At the time of the Storm Launch Party BG said
“The 15th will not be the release date. I can assure you it will be very, very late November.”

So is this a typo or did something change?

Ok? This is funny!!!! Do SOME people really think that this phone will come out for other carriers? Let me ask a question, When the chocolate first came out for Verizon, they said “Only Exclusively for Verizon.” Look at today, is the chocolate available for other carriers? No!!!!! Join Verizon and get it but dont hope too much about a gms version coming out

I’ve been waiting too. Almost got a Curve.

But at the end of the day, I doubt I’ll be able to tolerate the touch screen.

Also don’t think buying RIM’s first attempt at such a paradigm shift is a great idea. The thing’s just GOT to be buggy.

@ATT Rep: I would be utterly shocked if the CDMA Javelin/Niagara (which will likely get Curve branding considering the KickStart got the Pearl treatment) did not have 3G EV-DO- RIM’s entire CDMA lineup is already 3G EV-DO, after all.

Why does everyone think Rogers is getting this phone. If teh reports are right that Verizon/Vodafone are getting it then I can see Telus/Bell launching the unit. But why would RIM make a device with a different chipset for Rogers who run off a different frequency from Vodafone GSM…

It will go to another carriers in the future. It is exclusive to verizon this holiday for sure, but Rim will bring it to sprint, and t-mobile.

It depends on what Verizon has an exclusive on- if they have an exclusive on the “BlackBerry Storm”, that’s one thing. If they have an exclusive on the “BlackBerry Storm 9530″, that’s rather different… (Though both cases mean no Sprint)

However, considering all the Verizon/Vodafone talk in relation to this phone, my guess it’s the former. Though not all countries have a Vodafone affiliate, one example being Canada, so it won’t be VZ/VOD worldwide- RIMM isn’t going to lock out their home market from getting it.

ok. So BG isn’t right all the time, he’s human like the rest of us. We’re bound to make mistakes but he gets info from sources that we all don’t have. So who else you gonna believe. Most of the phone sites wait for BG to get his info before they post it on their sites. But the phone is only going to be on Verizon in the US. Canada is part of North America. Not the USA. Its called the United States of America for a reason. Not the United States and Canada. So technically he is right. Its just like Att has the Bold. No other carrier is getting it. They’re getting 3G less variants (Javelin for GSM and Niagra for CDMA). And so what. Canada is getting the Storm as well. But is it the USA? No. Read some more and get your info together.

One word: BOLD.

The Bold will ONLY be sold on ATT in the US, just like the Storm will as well. The situations are actually pretty similar; AT&T wanted RIM to build the Bold for them and VZW wanted them to build the Storm for them (albeit, after RIM offered).

If there is a GSM version, I’d bank on it being a completely different device.

the video says exclusive in the US to VZW. all info that has been out since June says exclusive to VZW in USA, Vodafone in Europe, and Rogers in Canada.

@ ATT Rep, yeah and a long time ago BG claimed the Bold would launch with OS 4.3 too…At first he claimed it was only going to VZW and Voda. Well, then he changed it and said Telus and Rogers. What BG says isn’t fact. And if you think that RIM would shoot itself in the foot by only allowing this device on one US carrier, you sir are an idiot. VZW might have it for a while, but it’s coming to a GSM carrier near you.

I’ve heard of carrier loyalty, but this sh*t is starting to get out of hand.

I can’t believe that some readers have such empty existences that they feel the need to endlessly flame each other on a PHONE BLOG….

Oh, and I would put large sums of money on seeing some variant of this phone on another US carrier within a year of its release, lifetime exclusive be damned. Any takers??

Read What ? Verizons talking points … what were they gonna say only on verizon for 90 days ? Whenever a phone company has an exclusive agreement they always use the same verbage …. 8320 was “exclusive on Tmo” now look 11months later its on ATT.
There will be a GSM version and it will come to ATT / Tmo down the line. Stop being naive (and nasty).

Many thanks to AT&T Rep. The number of commnents about an AT&T version is preposterous. Maybe every BG post about the Storm should mention that it’s a Verizon exclusive FOREVER.

I’m intrigued by this, but I’m going to wait for the Touch Pro and the Touch HD before making a decision. I’m currently a happy Tilt owner. AT&T lets me upgrade in March; hopefully I can sit on my hands that long.
