Verizon Wireless Blackberry Storm Confirmed, duh!

GlydeGuy over at Howard Forum leaked some Blackberry Storm Goodness. Remember, it’s the 15th today, kids. No pricing or release date but we can confirm that “click” touch interface, full HTML browser, 3.2MP camera, and a very high resolution screen. Take that AT&T with your eternally delayed Blackberry Bold. Now if we could just keep VZW from locking down the GPS, we’d have the epitome of perfection in a phone. Start the drooling now! Sadly there’s no Wi-Fi like we reported, though. Oh well.

Thanks to everyone that sent this in!

sounds good, I will be in store to try one out and see if it lives up to its growing hype. However If I have to push on the screen to type and it is a plastic screen then I’ll probably pass.

Just because it doesn’t say there is wi-fi…doesn’t mean it won’t have it. It doesn’t say it has memory or an SD slot, or a SIM slot, but based on a box we know it has those things.

Stop being such a Verizon Hating Douche

I wonder if I can use Google maps on this or will they block it so that I can pay them to use their crappy navigator.

    NO Wifi?

    Kai,
    question mark signifies a question.

But since you brought up the subject you think that the Wifi feature would be left off the box AND the talking points memo?

If I’m “Verizon hating” for asking these questions then what are you for arguing the existence of Wifi in this case?

    Butwhatever….

you’ll notice that my comment was posted prior to yours…and therefore directed at BG…not at you. BG is a known Apple FanBoi and Verizon Hater…I was just pointing it out due to the nice little quip about lack of wi-fi.

Sorry for any confusion that caused you.

I’m not saying that there will/will not be wi-fi. I’m just saying no one knows anything. The box doesn’t mention a lot of things…in fact it mentions ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about any of the connectivity features. Doesn’t say anything about quad-band, bluetooth, wi-fi. It would be ridiculous to speculate on those things.

C’mon guys.. I will be the first to say that BGR - not just BG - has done its share of VZW hating lately, but I don’t see how Kelly was so much hating on VZW in this one. She talks about how it’s going to be an amazing phone and how AT&T delayed the bold… yet again. You don’t have to be so harsh all of the time.

As for the phone.. I was pretty excited before, but after seeing the picture of it on that sheet… It looks amazing!! I can’t wait to get it in. :)

Name the last time BlackBerry threw WiFi into a CDMA device…hmmm…how about never?

And according to RIM insiders, there isn’t ANY future plans for them to put WiFi in ANY CDMA device.

And Kai, no matter who your statement was pointed at, you are still a dumbass.

I’m a huge blackberry fan and cant wait for this to come out. But what do you guys think it will be made out of. Think it will be like every other BB, plastic and will the silver on the sides scratch really easily? If it is, it won’t really stop me from getting it, but it might stop a lot of people that compare it to the I-phone.

As long as monthly service costs aren’t typical ‘Verizon’, the Storm should do well once it launches.

No wifi not a deal breaker, If this phone was going to ATT or even Tmobile having no WiFi might be a big deal. ATTs 3G network is no where as fast as Verizon”s and it’s not everywhere that Verizon is.

The T-mobiles 3G network is just getting started and should be up to par soon enogh. Not having a strong 3g network most likly isn’t going to be any type deal breaker for their customers but without UMA it might be a hard sell.

BG does do some serious hating on vzw/blackberry, and especially the Storm. What Kelly said though was that the phone seems/sounds perfect if VZW didn’t cripple gps. That really doesn’t sound like hating to me.

Though she really doesn’t have a clue(or she’s not telling us she has a source) anymore then you or me about wifi. The box didn’t give the type of specs that would list wifi, and neither did the talking points. The box listed mostly what was included, and the talking points were very very general just to let those who don’t know about it at verizon some info.

@ backbeat If you read my post I clearly stated that “I will be the first to say that BGR - not just BG - has done its share of VZW hating lately..”

You have to give credit where credit is due though.. Just bc they have done it in the past and will prolly do it in the future doesn’t mean they are going to do it all the time - this post for instance. No point in hating all of the time.

I agree, wi-fi thru VZW is pointless. Their EVDO system is plenty fast enough. Believe it or not but much faster than the iPhones wi-fi. Why do you think the iPhone has wi-fi?? Because At&T’s data system is very slow. Even if the Storm had wi-fi, I’d probably never use it. Wireless N is the only thing going to give you faster speeds on a cell phone over EVDO. Hell, look how long it takes your little iPhone packing buddy to switch his radio over to wi-fi from the regular cellular data system. wi-fi + cell phones = DUMB!!

    BG and Bloggers..

Its funny, all of the bloggers that are complaining, including BG, are so anxious to see what the Storm has to offer. Why so anxious?? If you dont like Blackberry and dont plan on getting it, your reasons for wanting to know about this bbut posting negative comments are somewhat contradicting. Wouldnt you say!?!?

Are you Mad @ the fact RIM MAY have a device that does more than your IMess? I HAD an IMess for work and know what it does. You can rave about the IMess until your blue in the face but facts are facts and your device is still nothing but one big Manhattan born cockroach that is infested with glitches on a horrible network that at one point several weeks ago had no WiFi and Internet! How unreliable.

How is stating the obvious being bias? Verizon is known for messing with GPS and other things. This is one post that I don’t even see any bias but people want to argue so what you expect.

And actually, I find it quite amusing that looking at it now, you even got it wrong when the link that you posted directly says FOR-IDEN-NETWORK.

Iden is not CDMA…And the 8350i is an iden device…Hence the 50 in the model number….the “i” in the model number….the lack of Sprint TV and Sprint Music Store…Were this a CDMA device..it would be the Sprint 8330 Curve WITH PTT!

Now be a good little boy, take your ball and go home. It’s time for the grownups to comment.

An iDEN data device without WiFi would essentially be a waste of time, since iDEN’s data speeds are so slow… EV-DO on the other hand isn’t bad speed-wise, and has an excellent coverage area- I guess if you were some sort of crazy heavy user streaming a lot of videos and stuff the 5GB cap could be an issue though?

What exactly is the point of this device? It lacks the “kickass biz e-mail” that is that makes other RIM QWERTY products special. It can “sync” with iTunes, but the built in media player is juvenile, and the interface looks about as impressive as, well, other Blackberry products, each of which require some kind of rolling tracking device. Makes no sense. . .seems aimed at the kind of guy that would buy a car that was umderpowered, looked like a clown car, was unreliable and got crappy mileage, but “isn’t a Ford,” so that’s enough. Oh wait, that applies to many of the tools posting here. My bad.

Wifi is useful if you are like me and the 3 days a week you have to go to your remote work place you’d like to be able to check your email and what not from the safety of your own device instead of using the state monitored computer… WIFI is useful on any device for someone like myself!
