HTC Touch Diamond now available from Sprint
We know a lot of you have been waiting patiently for an American release of HTC’s flagship handset, and thankfully Sprint has finally stepped up to the plate and delivered the goods. The Touch Diamond is now available for order online from Sprint.com. The official price is $249.99 with a $100 rebate and 2-year contract, though qualifying for the rebate itself requires the addition of some form of data plan. We’re not sure if this one has hit physical retail channels yet, but if not it certainly can’t be long now before Sprint branded Touch Diamonds are running wild through the streets. Anyone take the plunge? Let us know!
I ultimately want the Touch Pro, but thought I would check this out today when it became available. It does not show up with my local zip code. I had to punch in 90210 to even see it. Our area has great coverage and EVDO as well. Not sure why it is not showing up locally. Anyone have an idea why?
The plan requirements apparently are the same across all smartphones Sprint offers.

Att customers all over the world are crying right now. If you are a Sprint customer you real got a great looking phone. I feel with this phone in its line up sprint might be able to retain more of their customers, but I don’t think people will be leaving their phone companies to get this phone knowing the would have to be stuck with Sprint for 2yrs.
you are probably in a market that is owned by a sprint affiliate, not sprint itself.
What a laugh, lol. they expect people to pay $349 up front and then wait for $100 mail in rebate for that crap???? good luck with that.
Does this device require the Everything Plus plan? Sprint has been perfect for me since they were the first to deploy EVDO in my home city. I doubt I will change to an everything plus plan just for a phone. My Mogul works perfectly fine for now.
Crap??? You jealous people crack me up!! Just so you know I called retentions and they gave me the mail in rebate up front!! I ended up paying $150 for this phone! I think that is a GREAT deal!!!
I work in a corp. retail store, we have not gotten them in yet. We have advocates that get the phones before they come out and he hasn’t even gotten his yet, so hopefully we’ll get it soon.
And other companies expect people to pay $200-300 dollars up front for a phone that, by comparison, GARGLES MY BALLS. I would probably lay down $450 up front for this sexy beast. Just the screen alone get me all funny feeling…..lol.

Thanks BGR, not even a snide remark. This is a serious handset and next month when the Pro is out with the Highnote, Rant, Lotus and that IDEN phone things will look a tad bit better

I wonder if the rumors that the Verizon version of this will be crippled in terms of processor and features are true- it seems like a rather odd decision, if it’s true than my guess is that Sprint paid HTC off.

Verizon, taking away/restricting functions on phones is nothing new, they won’t have it for some months anyway. PhoneArena is alluding to what was speculated though

i work for sprint im in kansas and our htc guy came in with new handsets. the htc touch hd is the real deal and sprint will be getting it along with a tmobile dash look a like with a touch screen.
Anyone notice the $40.00 unlimited international GSM data plan add-on for the Sprint everything plan?!! SCREAMING DEAL!! 2 Months to go and no more paying $5.00 per MB to access email and data overseas on the RIPOFF AT&T roaming plan! Combined with the Touch Pro and I’m ALL SET!!! I work in downtown LA and Sprint has great coverage – even if their EVDO isn’t as fast as AT&T’s HSPA!
This is a cool phone, but I’m gonna wait for the Touch HD to come arrive at Sprint. My 2 yr contract will probably be up by then, so I can get the new customer pricing.

Well guys, I downloaded the rebate form, am looking at it now. The Touch by HTC requires the Everythings Plan or Talk/Message/Data Share Plan. However, looking at the SMART DEVICES area of the rebate form, which includes the HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro, indicates “UNLESS DATA IS INCLUDED IN YOUR PLAN, REQUIRES DATA PLAN OF $25 OR HIGHER.” That is straight from the rebate form. So, data is included in my SERO (yes, I still have it!!) Plan, there you go…Plus…I called Sprint Customer service this past week and spoke with Michelle M., in Alabama, who stated there would not be a required change of plan. She stated that only the Samsung Instinct requires the Everything Plan to activate. Now, of course I realize, and have experienced, the “double-talk” that is generally associated with Sprint Sales and new products. As soon as the HTC Touch Pro becomes available I am going to order it and see what they have to say then.

You’re probably with in an affiliate area like IPCS. You can call telesales and get it through them.
