downloading right now…going pretty quick for the size of the file.

not one of those who is expecting a “wow they put this and that and this in there!”

i’d like for simple things to be polished though like the contact searching and the text message drags. I with Google would get with it and allow push Gmail.

The Text alerts make me curious to see what those are like.

Also read that they have no logos for GPRS, EDGE and 3G not like that really makes your jaw drop haha

I bet you’ll see 3G dropped calls until everyone gets smart and upgrades to 2.1 . Because remember those old phones are still asking the 3G network for power in excess of what the phone needs to actually transmit. So each tower has a max bandwidth it can lease to phones and when it reaches the max bandwidth, it will start dropping or reporting low signal because the old phones are sucking up more than they need. So everyone please update to 2.1 asap so we can end this consumption problem.

I agree derek, people are not always thinking of the limitations of the towers..

So everyone get 2.1. good to see the troll come out early in here.

It seems that the new update clears all emails cached on iPhone causing the phone to re-download them all. All those who have limits on their data plan should make a note of this.

Can anyone find the setting to allow text alerts to be repeated up to 2 additional times? Not in Sound settings. Thanks.

Yeah, no 3G square logo now….
I’m still waiting for all my music/vid/apps to sync.

On a related note, my Macbook Pro tanked during the upgrade… I had Dreamweaver open at the same time, OSX said that was the problem “thread”. I had to do a full restore since I was right in the middle of the upgrade. But a full restore isn’t much different than the normal process.

    @derek

Before every one starts demanding all users to upgrade to 2.1, why don’t we wait a bit to see if the upgrade is actually what they advertise and does not cause more problems.

Also, I know that I am not upgrading until the Dev Team releases a new Pwnage. So keep yer pants on, people.

So far so awesome! Things feel almost as snappy as on my iPod touch (which is quite amazing as it ran circles around my iPhone previously).

Everything seems to pop a bit more, the address book delay really is a thing of the past and the keyboard is much more responsive.

The one glitch I do wish they would have fixed is the ridiculously short web page time-outs, don’t expect much improvement on that front. I’d like if they would keep my pages active longer, so sites with popups didn’t time out and force me to relog every few minutes.

Hahaha. This shit cracks me up. I am nowhere near a Fanboy of any sort, but really…? Are you joking? Are these really the issues new iphone users are experiencing? I don’t have any interest in iphone so i usually don’t read any new news or posts about it until this one and i confess myself shocked!! Is this device that important to people that they are willing to carry a dysfunctional unit? I just don’t get it. All of my employees use berry’s and thank god for that. If one of them had one of these iphones that dropped calls while talking to important clients and received lag emails, the decision to switch would be an easy one. Now, if a person wants a fun little toy to use cool apps and games then i guess iphone is the way to go.

So - I have used my cool 3G phone in Edge because I couldn’t get a signal on 3G at my house with the iPhone.

I just did the upgrade to 2.1 and I have full bars of 3G signal now.

So did they really fix the 3G issue or just changed the way the phone reports signal.

I have made a few calls and dropped every single one of them so far. So all in new found bars on the phone hasn’t done a thing for me.

I think they lowered the bandwidth requirements for the iphone. It no longer needs a ton of free bandwidth on the tower. Thats my theory.
