Say Hello to the HTC Touch HD
After yesterday’s somewhat disappointing HTC Opal news it looks like HTC fans can do a complete 180 and get pumped. This thing might look like a BlackBerry Thunder but thanks to TouchFLO 3D we can be pretty sure the Touch HD will offer a much better touch interface. Very little is known about this sexy little devil at this point but here’s what we can tell you:
- 480 x 800 pixel WVGA touchscreen display (!)
- Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
- TouchFLO 3D UI band-aid
- 3G (you better hit that tri-band radio, HTC!)
- Qualcomm 7201A processor @ 528MHz
- 512MB ROM / 256MB RAM (+32MB on processor)
All that plus a heaping dose of badass has us pretty excited. In fact, we’ve almost completely forgotten about the Opal. Our hope is that someone at HTC wised up, canned the Opal and this is what they coughed up instead.

What a gorgeous device. I’m a resolution/screen whore, and at 480×800, this baby will be the higher in resolution that both the BB Bold, and the iPhone 3G. And it has my favorite mobile OS.
Where do I get one?
i can almost guarntee sprint will be the first carrier in the states to offer this. sprint and htc are officially laying in bed with eachother. now all we need is microsoft to unveil os7 and how this baby touchdiamond and pro will be upgradable.
i agree with Chuong except that it wont bother me if it keeps TouchFlo 3D. i’ve never actually used HTC’s new interface but my sis has a Mogul and i’ve seen winmo 6.1 and i think its pretty badass. T-Mobile is the best and now that Phoenix (where i live) is getting 3G this Friday, its definiyly sealed. GO T-MOBILE USA!!!!
the only flaw for me is the 2.8 inch screen.

2.8? how the hell did you come up with that measurement? It’s almost exactly the same size as the iphone 3G. then go ahead and compare the screen size? Something is wrong with your logic there bud.
Why couldn’t this be the G1, if this had come out as the android launch phone, tmo could have requested your first born and people would have gladly given it to them
I bet that it will be upgradable to WinMo 7 shortly after launch. Better yet, looking at the December launch date, it may even ship with WinMo 7!

just in time for my 32nd b-day Oct02 hopefully.
Android on this would mean that I could pick up the ruins of my existence after seeing the pathetic “leaked” photos of the T-mobile G1. Please, please, please HTC…pop Android on this beautiful creature add place on TMO’s 3G and then, only then would we have a true competitor to the iphone, plus I would probably wet myself when I buy like 30 of them.

Why are so many people yelling Android, and have never used it. It could be a POS for all you know. And by looking at the “HTC Dream” video, that’s what it is shaping out to be. STOP DRINKING THE KOOL AID.

There aren’t going to be many useful, deep apps for Android for a while. Meanwhile, WM Mobile has thousands. Whether or not they are capable of running on this resolution is the concern for me. I’m no tech expert, so I don’t know how old programs developed on lower resolutions translate to working on VGA and WVGA screens. Anywhoo, I am pissed at HTC for causing me grief. I was ready to get the HTC Touch Pro from Sprint on Oct. 19th, but this shit right here … this has me waiting to see if it’ll have a keyboard equipped cousin. I have shelved the Touch Pro idea for now. Damn HTC, doing it big I see.
Which carrier will offer the HTC Touch HD? Will it be Sprint or Verizon?
