Let’s Rock NOTHING. The best firmware on what ought to be called a BETA device, the iPhone 3G, was 2.0.1. 2.0.2 made things worse for me. What a joke. Can we be specific about the 2.1 for the BETA iPhone 3G?

I’ve owned tons of phones in my almost 10 years with AT&T, and the iPhone 3G is the worst one. A DISTANT 2nd would be the Treo 650 a few years back.

It’s great for making money, though. It never ceases to amaze me that it doesn’t seem to matter to my customers that they have a buggy phone on their hands, which constantly crashes, has poor reception, drops calls left and right, and never mind the crappy 3G to 2G handoffs. I love Apple, though. I’ve never made so much money per phones than with the Beta iPhone 3G.

I remember selling the G1 of nanos and seeing devices alike these but were ipod knock offs…

Still no folder monitoring in iTunes, how can they justify the version change for music suggestions and a grid view that was in media player 11 beta but pulled for some unknown reason?

Meh … not impressed. Don’t see many of you complaining about the fact that iTunes 8 is really not bringing a whole lot of new stuff! The browser is still crappy, the sync sucks and instead they come out with the Genius?!? WTF? I still find this a crappy music library! Give me a tool that allows me to use WMP with my iPhone 3G!! Firmware 2.1 sounds interesting though! Let’s see if they can deliver on the 3G improvements!

So long story short, lots of useless if that upgrades, new nano with some useless and some cool upgrades and a much more…”interesting” (ugly) design, dump a classic model, give the iPhone some upgrades that should’ve been there from the start (wonder where that’s happened before?), and a new iTunes that actually gets rid of the useful ministore and put in a music monitor to tell which tuneage you’ve pirated. Way to go apple!! You’ve thusly hurt the last bit of intelligence that businesses thought consumers had.

I was thinking the same thing…2.1 firmware should really be called 2.0.3 if that’s all the updating they’re going to do. Wasn’t 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 also to do with bug fixes? How many more bugs do they want to fix!? And where is the push feature that they were supposed to be rolling out in September? Flash would be nice, copy and paste would be nice but this doesn’t seem like a major update at all. Come on apple keep good on your word!

So basically with the new ipod Touch, besides the speaker, volume controls, & genius playlists, you don’t really get much. I wonder if the old Ipod Touch can be upgraded to get genius playlists. If it can, you can buy a 32GB refurb online at apple.com for $319. That’s $80 cheaper than the new one and woohoo, all you lose is the speaker & volume controls. Oh and the Nike app which 99% of the world doesn’t use.

+1 to older iPod Video models, mine is 5G. The screen is dead but who cares? Its iPod Shuffle 30gb xD

Not interested in new models. I have more than 16gb of music, and certainly not interested in Touch. Nano looks nice. But previous nano looks better to me. I guess I’ll just use my cell as mp3 player…

The changes were:
- Needed; and
- Evolutionary, not Revolutionary

That said, the only thing Steve could have said that would have interested me would have been 80 and/or 120 GB iPod Touch. Since he won’t, and never will, I don’t care that much about any of his keynote addresses.

Still a solid showing though. A refresh of the entire iPod lineup, plus some new higher-end headphones, is a good showing.

I guess all you Apple haters will be through shortly, but seriously: fuck you all. This is a company. You’re embarrassing yourselves by showing such irrational hatred towards the company.

At least, have the good sense to hate the people who kiss the company’s ass.

Well that decides it. I have been anxiously awaiting a new Touch with higher capacity. With nothing down the line for a while, I guess I am gonna bit the bullet and buy the 120G classic. At least it is slimmer than the 160 was. Katherine

I am disappointed that they didn’t bump the capacity on the Touch to at least 60GB or something. I wanted to get one at Christmas time this year, but 32 will not do at all. I guess I’ll be sticking with my 80GB Classic for a while longer…

2.1 sounds like TOTAL CRAP. I would prefer to have kept poor battery life, regular crashes, many dropped calls, and slow backups in exchange for copy/paste, tethering, and/or synchronization of Notes via MobileMe.
