iPod nano 4g spy photo emerges

Some folks on the AppleInsider forums are engaged in a heated debate over this blurry photo of an alleged iPod nano 4g. The leaked photo shows a bright orange nano in plastic retail packaging that bears quite a striking resemblance to the nano images leaked by Kevin Rose a few weeks back. Notice anything unusual about this leaked photo? Something like the offset dock connector and tall plastic packaging that screams “iPod nano 2G” and “I photoshopped this pix last night at 3AM”! In our own Photoshop hack, we rotated Rose’s leaked picture and put it side by side with this new photo. Judge for yourself. Is this a sneak photo of the iPod goodness to come or another crude Photoshop fake?

Regardless of which photo you think is real, the two ipods are not the same. Which is real? We’ll have to wait and see I guess…

I would bank on both being big fakes, but I would also bank on both being pretty darn close to what the new Nano looks like at launch….

On the Orange, the light reflection on the upper right hand side of the casing isn’t consistent with anything else in the pic. Just an amaters take… I could be wrong. =)

I bet they’re both correct. the screen size looks different but that may be due to the angle of the photos. nonetheless, part of the fun of it all is the speculation while waiting to find out who is right on the 9th

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the orange one is legit. The shading of the orange is pretty good from right to left, and since everything is going widescreen these days, I think the form factor is going to be widescreen.

‘Shopped! In my view the ‘reflections’on the packaging of the orange one are the giveaway. I don’t think light does that, quite that way. The tear-shaped on in the top right-hand corner looks more like spooge than light.

Honestly, I think they are bringing back the Mini, not replacing the Nano.

Kevin Rose’s image is a CG mock up made during product development, and the new orange one is real picture.

How about on tuesday we link back to this article and ask the nay sayers above to eat back their words?
