BlackBerry Bold / AT&T update!

While our predicted national launch date of October 2nd still looks to be holding true, we’ve had a flurry of tips from many different people regarding the BlackBerry Bold release on AT&T. What we’ve heard, is that stores will be allowed to start ordering the BlackBerry Bold on September 24th. That gives them plenty of time to get units in stock and ready to go. No telling if stores will be allowed to sell the units the moment they come in, or if they will have to hold them until the 2nd. Then again, when do AT&T stores actually follow launch instructions?

Thanks to all our ninjas and tipsters!

^ WoW! And exactly what are you? “Anger-In-Drag”? By all means, please sell your shares. Others know value over the long term and deserve the ownership you lack.

I have tried to use sim card from wife Motorola 3G phone, and get “data connection refused”. My 8820 will only receive and make calls it will only send and receive text. We have unlimited text also, so I don’t know where you got information about not needing data package. One of my kids is also having to use my 8310 since she broke her blackjack her sim card also give her “data connection refused”
    Just my two cents.
Come on AT&T release the Bold so I can get it.

ozziedog, If you already have an 8820, why would you need a Bold?

data plan will probably be required, but shouldn’t be a deal-breaker for you. at&t required a data plan with purchase of the blackberry 8100 so i just purchased it at the store with the data plan and cancelled the data portion of the plan when i got home. done and done.

We just heard this past Friday from our AT&T rep that the device will be available “mid to late October”. Considering the past release dates that have been come and gone, don’t expect it until maybe Christmas – 2009…

My AT&T store still doesn’t have a clue. They said they were supposed to have the Bold in the store late last week…ummmm…

I bought the iPhone almost 30 days ago ‘cuz I was tired of my POS Treo 750. That phone seriously sucks! I wouldn’t throw it at my worst enemy.

I don’t really like the iPhone either from a text and email standpoint. But I got caught up in the glitz and glamour of the iPhone. I saw a shiny object and had to run towards it…loser.

I am going to have to go back to the POS Treo until the Bold arrives. Or switch carriers.

I just don’t get the reason for the constant delays!! Does anyone in big business have a clue these days????

I will own this one – hope it opens PDF and other attachments without buying 3rd party software – I use my 8800 for business – the still & video cam addition is very welcome.

Business care gave me a date of Oct, 2nd as well, however I could see the 15th being more realistic, that is another rumored date for the Pearl Flip to be released on T-Mo.

here’s hope…I preordered my bold through tiger direct. UPS is delivering it to my apartment today. ATT shouldn’t be too far behind for everyone else.

Today I asked a customer service person at an AT&T store. She said they’ll “probably have it in about a week”. Looks like Oct 2 is a good date.

My main issue with the iPhone and Thunder are the damn touch screen typing, it doesnt cut it for me. I need buttons to fully take advantage of quick and accurate typing. I wish they would have the full keyboard with a touch screen as well, would work wonders i believe.

The Bold is $399 Canadian dollars,
    about $375 USD,
however I think they will release it for $299
since the release date is later.
RIM intentionally does this to force people to wait.
