BlackBerry Bold / AT&T update!

While our predicted national launch date of October 2nd still looks to be holding true, we’ve had a flurry of tips from many different people regarding the BlackBerry Bold release on AT&T. What we’ve heard, is that stores will be allowed to start ordering the BlackBerry Bold on September 24th. That gives them plenty of time to get units in stock and ready to go. No telling if stores will be allowed to sell the units the moment they come in, or if they will have to hold them until the 2nd. Then again, when do AT&T stores actually follow launch instructions?

Thanks to all our ninjas and tipsters!

Am I the only one that thinks that a Blackberry Bold with a touchscreen would be the bestest phone ever? But that will probably take another 4 years before RIM even considers that…

Ugggh what about the rumors for Sept 12? My Curve just died yesterday and I had to revert to my 8700c! It’s hard going back to to the track wheel and no Bluetooth!

I can’t wait for this phone…I’m excited…I’m eagerly awaiting this phone…unnervingly hanging onto this i-phone 3g. I’m also still using my Curve with 4.5…the teaser for 4.6. My wife has just won the BB Kickstart, so its going to be a good holiday in the household…!

RIM is back? Are you an idiot? They’re the market leader; they never went anywhere. The iPhone is more interesting, but that’s not an indictment on RIM. The Bold launch will not me as dollar for dollar successful as the iPhone, but that’s what happens when you rely on business customers, many of whom still use CRT displays and run Windows 2000 (in other words, there won’t be lines nationwide, which is a good thing for all of you heavy box email users who somehow have time to sit at your computer and post here [you certainly aren't here on the atrocious BB browser]). Now can someone explain to me the advantage of having such a gorgeous screen on a device that’s not a decent media player and for which there are no decent 3P applications?

    Dan says:

Does anyone know if AT&T is going to require you to buy a data plan with the Bold?

This could be a deal breaker for me, since I have no need to spend the approximately $40/month when I have wifi at work and at home.

The iphone required a data plan…

Well it looks like AT&T will ‘finally’ be releasing the BlackBerry BOLD!! It’s about time.

I’m anxiously waiting for RIM to send out a Press Release for the launch of the CDMA NIAGARA, which will have a more advanced OS, a better camera and better screen resolution than the Javelin. Some say it is the evolution of the BB Curve.

    Bring it on!!

Will have to look at this asap. I am traveling in Australia this week. My Iphone 3g crapped the bed. No warranty service provided by Apple stores here for American purchased phones, so I am off the airwaves for ten days….. AT&T World Wide Solution???,,,,,, BS I say.

    the NINJA! says:

THE bold will not launch any earlier than end of sept because ATT has 90 days exclusive rights guess what that means no sprint, no verizon and no Tmobile having it till early 2009. att does not want anyone to have the device till after X-mas..
