BlackBerry Storm goes into TA (technical acceptance) at Verizon, delayed 3-4 weeks

Here’s our latest info on the BlackBerry Storm and the fate of the device on Verizon’s network: it just went into technical acceptance at Verizon which usually takes around 3-4 weeks, and the device has been delayed internally by around 3-4 weeks while they work out the kinks (read: buggy and unresponsive) and polish it up. That puts us around a mid-November launch on Verizon. We’ve double confirmed that information, so it should be pretty accurate. Additionally, we heard from someone else that they’ve increased the marketing budget for the BlackBerry Storm just to give AT&T a little kick in the nuts for delaying the Bold so much. That’s not confirmed, still probably a little true, plus we got a chuckle out of that anyway.

I am so fed up with no release date, no info, etc. I am going to buy an Iphone. If they cant tell you when you can buy one, how the heck can they provide service on one.

Yes there was a well publicised blackberry outage last year. It is NOT a yearly thing, it just happened, and RIM fixed it as quickly as it could. It just effected email, and cell calls still worked fine, throughout.

does anyone know the actual price yet… no estimates

Today in Chicago, at the NBC plaza, they were doing a Promo and giving these phones away like crazy! Both my girlfriend an I won one and they said we could expect them to arrive in 4-6 weeks. The reps also said that this estimate was just to be safe and we should probably get it before the end of the month! I am so excited I have envied the iPhone since it came out but love Verizon so hopefully this phone will satisfy! As to price they said probably around $500 each(sorry thats still probably just an estimate).

Does anyone know the actual price, i think 500 is rediculously high? and is that the actual release date?

i got the tech service people at verizon to finally budge after asking them over and over and one told me the price is going to be around $300. she said she thinks it was $329. and the $500 does not seem steep. sounds like that is the retail price of the phone without signing a contract or any type of discount. would not surprise me at all.

I went into a Verizon store on Saturday and the manager said the 23rd was the last he heard. Did a google search and on http://www.everythingberry.com they state it has been pushed back to the 23rd due to a software glitch and the price is confirmed at $199 for individual and $89 for business.

I heard the release date was this Friday the 14th. I know Best Buy is doing some ticket, first come, first serve thing. I worked for retail before and they usually put all of the new tech out on Tuesdays so hopefully within this week!

Best Buy is putting down $50 deposits on the Storm right now. It’s not advertised, so you have to ask at the mobile kiosk. The way it works is they are getting 2 shipments - their regular and their pre-order/deposit shipment. You will get a call from them to come in at your appointment time to get the phone. They’re being told that they should have this phone November 16th.

Oh, and they’re quoting a price point of $199-299, with a presumption that the $299 is for the contract price and $199 is the upgrade price. They don’t know what the retail price is yet.

I really don’t care about when it’s coming out, I just want to know will it ever come out on T-Mobile?

Tmobile will probably never see this phone and if they do it will be in a bout 2 1/2 years…… t mobile fans keep your eye out for the touch pro or the new sony erickson

the date it shows on the phone should confirm what everyone has been thinking.

I just went to Best Buy to ask about the pre-order deal, and they said that the phones will be available on the 23rd. Also, one benefit to ordering/buying it at Best Buy, the mail in rebate that Verizon will have on it, Best Buy is going to go ahead and take it off. So whatever the bottom line is after the rebate is what they will have it available for in their store.
