BlackBerry Storm goes into TA (technical acceptance) at Verizon, delayed 3-4 weeks

Here’s our latest info on the BlackBerry Storm and the fate of the device on Verizon’s network: it just went into technical acceptance at Verizon which usually takes around 3-4 weeks, and the device has been delayed internally by around 3-4 weeks while they work out the kinks (read: buggy and unresponsive) and polish it up. That puts us around a mid-November launch on Verizon. We’ve double confirmed that information, so it should be pretty accurate. Additionally, we heard from someone else that they’ve increased the marketing budget for the BlackBerry Storm just to give AT&T a little kick in the nuts for delaying the Bold so much. That’s not confirmed, still probably a little true, plus we got a chuckle out of that anyway.

Josh, can you answer my question? Will the new Storm have outlook sync capability?

I doubt Josh works for Verizon,I also am sure Verizon will find some way to screw this up…..like keep delaying the release and making it over the 199.99 price it needs to be at for the Storm to have a shot at over taking the iphone.

I actually had it in my hands. It’s a little bigger than the curve, it’s a good thing. It was a prototype and did have some issues. I had a hard time typing on the full keyboard. The sure-type was the same as it on the pearl. The video was great, the rep had a short clip of Speed Racer and it was close to HD quality. The other thing it’s an 8 GB Sans Disk microSD build in. I think they need to get better icons, the ones they have are blaaa! Hopefully they have profiles to pick from that will look better than the default. I already have my storm on order. November 9th…

For any of you business people out there who are concerned with synconizing outlook contacts and calendar with the STORM, I’ve just been advized by Verizon, that the STORM will run ver. 4.5 desktop manager and dm is what controls this sync. As well, before sync, dm will run an application where you transfer all old blackberry data over to the STORM before you actually start periodic sync as needed.
