BlackBerry Storm goes into TA (technical acceptance) at Verizon, delayed 3-4 weeks

Here’s our latest info on the BlackBerry Storm and the fate of the device on Verizon’s network: it just went into technical acceptance at Verizon which usually takes around 3-4 weeks, and the device has been delayed internally by around 3-4 weeks while they work out the kinks (read: buggy and unresponsive) and polish it up. That puts us around a mid-November launch on Verizon. We’ve double confirmed that information, so it should be pretty accurate. Additionally, we heard from someone else that they’ve increased the marketing budget for the BlackBerry Storm just to give AT&T a little kick in the nuts for delaying the Bold so much. That’s not confirmed, still probably a little true, plus we got a chuckle out of that anyway.

Hey all,
Just went to my local Verizon store in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Storm is due to be “in-store” next Friday…Oct 24th. Not sure about pricing, but it is rumored to be around $300-$400.

so reading through the comments i seen prices from 600-800$ how is that going to compete with the iphone?!?! 199-299$ for 3G…i mean if ur already on VZW then it wouldnt be a bad price considering i think its going to be better than the iphone…but if its that high i will NOT be switching to VZW and ill just wait till 2009 for the release of the new iphone witch will prolly once again top everything on the market to date…since thats what apple is good at =P
p.s im a huge Blackberry fan just not a fan of there prices =/

One time Treo user, one time (very short) HTC Touch user, now Blackberry 8830 user, all with Sprint. I must say, I’ve been with Sprint for 9 years and this is the first time another carrier has convinced me to switch. Regardless of the release date of RIM’s Storm, I’m there. AT&T almost had me with the Bold but their long delays and rumors of poor quality have me eyeballing Verizon. C ya Sprint!

STORM: No WIMAX support

To put it mildly, we’ve seen a butt-load of handset makers jump on the iClone bandwagon since Apple’s device was announced in 2007. Without exception, every attempt has failed to come close to matching the iPhone’s nearly mythic combination of intuitive UI, responsive touchscreen, and gorgeous hardware. The Storm, though, gets closer than any device we’ve ever laid hands on.
And in one critical area — you might want to sit down for this — The Storm actually beats the iPhone.

OK… what is the price tag on this thing going to be… for those of you that have older blackberry stuff… how much did you pay… i’m debating on if waiting for this thing is even going to be worth the wait if they bring it out and the dern thing cost more than the iphone that holds more memmory

Rumor has it $199. I have a buddy that works for VZW, but he says they haven’t heard a price yet. He’s also saying Nov release. I’m ready already!!

Does anyone know if there are plans to release this phone to any other service providers on down the road? I remember when the IPhone came out, it was only available on certain networks. However, eventually, a few months later, you could get it with nearly any provider. I’d assume RIM would do the same with the BB Storm. You really limit your market by going with only one provider. I have a company phone and cannot switch over to Verizon but I do want the Storm. I’m on ATT and am willing to wait to buy a new phone if there’s a chance the Storm will be available with ATT in several months. If not, I’ll be forced to buy one of the same phones ATT has hadd for over a year now. Does anyone know what the chances of this are?

I don’t want to switch over to VZW. why did they have to kick AT&T in the nuts because there the only people with the Iphone.. i don’t want the Iphone i want a Iphone blackberry. I’m not liking this at all, I’m excited for this phone although.

Oh i hear you! I had AT&T for 1 or 2 years and it felt like hell! Dropped calls and 0 bars were a thing of the past now that i have VZW! I’ve tried sprint..at&t…tmobile..and VZW is uncomparable when it comes to reliability of calls and just making sure you can recieve info and calls! If you’re thinking about switching..do it when this storm comes out! I’m upgrading my phone as soon as it does..i’m too excited! I can see that itll be better than the iPhone

look at it this way. the iphone was at technical acceptance and it was having alot of problems. verizon must be trying to work out most of the issues so they don’t get criticized for the issues like the apple did for the iphones problems.

not to push the rumor mill…but i heard this thing could be out as early as next week…but of course nothing to confirm it! if this thing continues to get pushed back like the 6800 and 6900(which sucks ne ways) i’m gonna be super pissed… yeah vzw has a good network but they cripple their phones and haven’t released a new pda/ppc in forever (other than the 6900 with sucks, again)

I just asked our corporate rep for info. I’m curious to know if the stores have them in stock yet. You’d figure they would have a press release and give a few days/weeks notice so people can start lining up and camping. XD

really quite unrelated but when the storm does come out, is it going to be possible down the road to have an android port on it? The reason I ask is that I really want to get an android phone but Im not up to waiting however long it’s going to take for Verizon to get on the Google bandwagon. And I don’t feel like switching services because like it or not, Verizon has one of the best services around. So my question is whether it will be possible to port android onto RIM Storm. If it is possible, then i’ll be considering getting this. Otherwise I’ll just wait it out I suppose.

We all speak about the phome itself, but no one is addressing if this phone has sync to outlook capabilities. Face it, the business community needs to have this, or else its just another pretty face and useless!

Urgh I want this phone and with out a solid release date, the wait is killing me. This BB blows iphone out of the water, iphone is way overrated! pleze the only thing that would keep me from buying this phone is if barack obama got one! haha

As a representative for Verizon Wireless, I can confirm that the Blackberry Storm will be released to customers on Saturday, November 15th, 2008.
The direct stores will be opening one hour early to launch this amazing device, as the hype & demand is already extremely large.

I promise, it will be worth the wait! Verizon just wants to make sure it will be as reliable as their network!
