Cupertino, We Have a Problem

Ruh roh. Reports are literally flooding in that iPhones across the Northeast are experiencing some major network issues. Reports are also coming from areas further south down the Atlantic coast. So what’s the deal? Well in a nutshell, data is kaput. Users are reporting that 2G and 3G data are both affected which means unless you’re in range of a WiFi hotspot you’re basically toast. Oddly, no other handsets seem to be affected by this outage which poses the question: Huh? In any event, AT&T is admitting that there’s a problem and has opened ticket # TT000008107719 to cover it. Roll call! If you’re experiencing problems drop a comment below and let us know where you are.

TAMPA FL IS STILL WORKING
For the past 2 weeks the phone has truly been a POS, can not make / recieve calls and when I can it’s at the phones convience. Drops calls as well as data in a snap. Nice to know the phone wasn’t on my side for the evacuation here in Louisiana.
Ryan, then return the POS as you say. You have a month to make a change, if you don’t then your dumber than the phone.
I had no issues during the day, EDGE never went out for me.
Also, someone please educate people on how 3G towers get overloaded and what they do when they have no more bandwidth…
I don’t see how this is Apple’s problem. If AT&T’s network is down, then it’s not just iPhone users that are having trouble. It’s just that iPhone users actually have a usable browser so they’ll actually NOTICE the network outage.
Yes, the internet was uncharted territories in mobile space until the iPhone came and saved the day. I wonder what that was I was surfing on with my original XDA back in 2002?
my iPhone 3g seems unable to connect to the Internet thru 3g or edge from 10am to 5pm. So yea this is definately a problem. This is Brooklyn heights btw. Where apple does their gps section of their commercial!
haha i got my iphone unlocked 2 tmo n it works beautifully:)
oddly enough, I;m in Central Illinois and my data has been on the fritz too.
no problems with 3G or EDGE in Atlanta with iPhone or Blackjack
I have a 1st Gen iPhone, but i am using T-Mobile and i had no EDGE for most of yesterday. I dont know if this was brought up, i didnt wanna sit through all these replies.
Nokia E71 anyone? haha look at all them sheep out there crying about how their iphone is garbage, then trying to blame it on AT&T. Seriously, this is what you get for $30/month for data? why don’t you guys go to Alaska and buy some ice? HAHA HAHA ROFLOL
this isthe endresult of drinking the koolaide
Was having major problems in the Indianapolis area. Note I said WAS…. went back to my curve.
No problems down here in Orlando, FL.
Dallas Edge is working.
The higher the hype the harder the fall.
the 3g/edge is not working in Philly! Reset the network still no luck!
over the last 3 days I have been on the phone with ATT for 4 hours trying to fix this problem. They told me that its because of the hurricane which I dont understand. I am in bloomington indiana which is easily 600 miles away from the hurricane. They also told me that it is a class 1 problem which means it should be fixed. but who knows. And its not only iphones, blackberries and all ATT phones where I am are all having the same nonsense problem.
Extreme compensation needed? I think so. Free iPhone 2 for all!!!
Everything is working good here with Data signal.
Just MobileMe is a friggin bear.
Tallmadge, OH
I am in Atlanta and I have been having trouble with 3G speed. It has been as slow as edge, spotty or non existent.
NYC no 3G for me. It has been a couple of days now. I went to Philadelphia and back today. It worked wonderfully there. But, as soon as I returned to NYC… Kaput! “No Service”. As soon as I turn off 3G, all my bars return. Why am I paying so much for my service to be stuck with the Edge network. I waited for the 3G to have 3G!
An announcement from AT&T would be nice. Instead we have to try to get through to support and get a vague explanation. We pay enough to be informed. It is not like we are on some discount plan. We deserve that level of responsibility from AT&T!
