Cupertino, We Have a Problem
Ruh roh. Reports are literally flooding in that iPhones across the Northeast are experiencing some major network issues. Reports are also coming from areas further south down the Atlantic coast. So what’s the deal? Well in a nutshell, data is kaput. Users are reporting that 2G and 3G data are both affected which means unless you’re in range of a WiFi hotspot you’re basically toast. Oddly, no other handsets seem to be affected by this outage which poses the question: Huh? In any event, AT&T is admitting that there’s a problem and has opened ticket # TT000008107719 to cover it. EDGE and 3G working fine in Miami FL.

I’m in central California with an iPhone 3G. Everything seems to be working fine. I ran a speed test in DSLReports and hit 884 kbps. Above average according to their statistics. Edge is working fine also. 172kbps on EDGE. Again, above average.

It’s not just Apple I-Phones, I’m in Syracuse and my Tilt has no data either. Was in Charlotte two days ago and it was similar. Not sure if this has to do with the Windows 6.1 update or not, but it sure does suck
I haven’t had one data issue since I bought my iphone, the West coast is the best coast. Literally, the Oregon coast is bomb.
Internet connectivity hasn’t worked since 5:00 AM EST for me in the Northern Virginia area.
Richmond, VA, no data, since i bought this damn thing i drop 3g calls daily on full bars, after leaving my wifi i have to reboot to recieve email, at&t get it together, your 3g needs work

Im on Long Island ny, ive been having problems since yesterday. Both E and 3G will not connect. Its now 11:35am and still no positive results. Smh

In Manhattan I have no data on my iPhone, either 3G or edge, but my Edge Curve works fine.
All is down here in the small town of Nueva York – I have had troubles for the last week
No 3G or Edge data in manhattan since at least 7am this morning even with solid five bars of coverage. That goes for both my blackjack and iphone classic (1st gen).
AT&T morning meeting:
– More bars – check
– More places – check
– Data – ummm, we don’t talk about that on TV, do we? We do, uh oh….
Suggested new tagline for commercials – “Apparently the Internet CAN hide, but only from AT&T!”
Strangest thing.. my 6.1 Tilt connects but nothing works.. pop3, opera browser, tomtom traffic.. EXCEPT PIE .. works with no problems.. bizarre…

BTW I had a terrible experience getting my IPhone over the weekend. The Apple Store in Freehold, NJ said they could switch me from Verizon, switch my Fiancee and her Mom from Verizon and put us on a share plan with AT&T. So we all were switched and numbers ported.
Well let’s just say that things did not go as planned. We got over to AT&T and they said basically that in order to do what Apple said they would have had to activate all three on AT&T at once and they could not combine all three phones into one plan, only the two NJ numbers and my PA number would have to be on a single plan.
Though a lot of fighting eventually they had to cancel the whole Apple transaction and start a new account on AT&T. Four hours of Apple being completely clueless and AT&T trying to fix the problem later we got things worked out. Props to Vinny and Jeff and my advice do not go to the Apple Store in Freehold, the assistant manager is extremely pompous and yelled at my Fiancees Aunt who was buying an IPhone for her son.
3G iPhone in Oregon working on 3G data
i just switched to an iphone (edge) thinking it was all that great but honestly I’m EXTREMELY disappointed. The handset itself isn’t too bad if you take out the fact that their is no cut and paste nor is the battery so hot…how could a company say we have all these great features and then say but you should turn them off if you want the battery to last more then a few hours? The reception of the iphone is CRAP – i had a blackberry and even in the middle of no where upstate new york I got at least some reception, the iphone – nothing. Even when there is reception it barely connects to the internet.
I’m huge apple fan, have been using them ever since the apple iie but honestly i just don’t get this one. one of the founders put this marketing package out for his company saying that the apple modo was not to reinvent the wheel, just to make it better….WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE??? Is steve jobs losing it?

On iPhone 3g on AT&T there is no response in Syracuse, NY
No EDGE or 3G for me on my iPhone even though I am showing full bars. This happens periodically for me, especially during my morning commute. Very annoying. This time the problem has persisted all morning.
Houston – yesterday was bad, no calls over 3G, only over EDGE. This morning, 17 tries just to make 1 call.
I meant to say I am in Boston/Cambridge, MA
3G is out here in Toronto.
Edge is working though. Thankfully.
Beginning to think my defection from my blackberry to the 3G iPhone was a HUGE mistake.
