Cupertino, We Have a Problem
Ruh roh. Reports are literally flooding in that iPhones across the Northeast are experiencing some major network issues. Reports are also coming from areas further south down the Atlantic coast. So what’s the deal? Well in a nutshell, data is kaput. Users are reporting that 2G and 3G data are both affected which means unless you’re in range of a WiFi hotspot you’re basically toast. Oddly, no other handsets seem to be affected by this outage which poses the question: Huh? In any event, AT&T is admitting that there’s a problem and has opened ticket # TT000008107719 to cover it. 3G and EDGE are out here. Fairfax VA / Washington DC Metro area
2G and 3G data spotty yesterday, and nonexistent this morning in Amherst, MA. My theory was that 25,000 students returned to school yesterday. Making and receiving calls was difficult yesterday too. A few weeks ago, ATT customer service told me they were upgrading my tower–not for better service, but to allow for more people to use it.

No 3G or EDGE internet or email connectivity problems on AT&T or Tmobile today in central NC.
Service went out for a bit last night around midnight while I was tethering… I thought it was because I was tethering… but my brother’s iPhone was out too. Today everything seems to be fine… tethering right now with 3g and posting this until TW comes and installs my cable modem… just moved

Weird, I have full service and the EDGE logo, yet no data at all here in Springfield, MA.
Edge and 3g are down, rochester ny 11:10am
No 3G or Edge on the iPhone here in Boston, MA and 15 miles north.
AT&T should be forced to pay back $10 to every iPhone 3G users for every month during which 3G service is nonexistent or shoddy!!
Using a BB8800 @ Work and EDGE/BES is working fine. Been testing it out by going to various sites with no problems.

Success – Sent/received text SMS messages.
Failed – Email, Weather updates, stocks, Safari.
It’s the entire NE market.
Eastern PA, South NJ, DE, Mass, Rhode Island, Vermont, NH, Maine, Connecticut, NYC, Northern NJ, NY state, Virginia, WV, DC, Maryland.
It’s slow or out in a lot of these areas for a lot of people, it’s being worked on.
It isn’t just iPhones, my tilt is also having data issues. Seems to be an ATT issue, not Apple.
