Cupertino, We Have a Problem

Ruh roh. Reports are literally flooding in that iPhones across the Northeast are experiencing some major network issues. Reports are also coming from areas further south down the Atlantic coast. So what’s the deal? Well in a nutshell, data is kaput. Users are reporting that 2G and 3G data are both affected which means unless you’re in range of a WiFi hotspot you’re basically toast. Oddly, no other handsets seem to be affected by this outage which poses the question: Huh? In any event, AT&T is admitting that there’s a problem and has opened ticket # TT000008107719 to cover it. Roll call! If you’re experiencing problems drop a comment below and let us know where you are.

why is this Cupertino we have a problem? Shouldn’t it be Atlanta we have a problem as that is the AT&T wireless home?

and no data problems here in NC on EDGE unfortunately.

Yup. My Edge iPhone hasn’t connected at all this morning. I rebooted the phone and no go. I don’t think it’s the iPhone. Problem has to lie in at&t. In my 14 months of owning the iPhone, I only had this happened to me once and it was at&t’s fault. Sup with that?

I think it was even happening in Dallas/Ft. Worth yesterday evening. I had 11 call attempts drop on me within 3-10 seconds of the call connecting within a 10 minute period.

No problems here. My HTC tilt connects perfectly
in [H] mode. Maybe it’s the iPhone that is the problem?

I am in the New York City/Northern New Jersey area, and I commute to work in New York City. I definitely have problems with 3G signals. I have upgraded to firmware 2.0.2 (basically useless). Sometimes I get full bars with 3G, but I still cannot access Safari or download apps on the phone. Dropped calls and lack of signal throughout the area are definitely a problem. It helps to switch to GSM/EDGE, but that’s not why I bought a 3G phone!!! Also, when is AT&T going to have signal in the tunnel on trains between New York and New Jersey? Verizon has had signal i the tunnel for at least 10 years!!! I can do without having everybody yapping on the phone while on the train, but we need signal to send texts and surf the Internet. I know of two other people with the same problems, so it’s not an isolated issue!

This doesn’t seem to be isolated to iPhones. I have a WM6.1 device and am having the same problem…

None of the iphones in our office in Manhattan are working. Voice Calls are not going through and no date on 3G or Edge since 7:30AM. In other words…the iphones are DOA right now as of 10:46AM EDT.

ATT has been horrible in NYC esspecially the Queens area. This company should not exist.
I have no clue by BG stands behind this company so much. Verizon and Tmo which I own both are so much better in the metro area. BG I think your a great sight, but im starting to wonder how you still give all this love to ATT. When Tmo and Verizon clearly better in New York City. this is the 3 rd time im giving ATT a try cause of the iphone and bold that their due first. and i wanna break these phones over a bus
