Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 delayed until January or Not?
The Register recently reported that the hotly anticipated Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has been delayed until January 2009. A screen shot purportedly shows the phone with a release date of January 2009 and an interview with a Sony Ericsson rep at IFA confirmed that delay. The rep even unofficially attributed it to problems with Windows Mobile 6.1 compatibility. That all sounds well and good except for the fact that the release date on Sony Ericsson’s Official E-Shop is now back to October 2008, according to the screen grabs we took today. Say what?
The X1 has had the most changeable release date imaginable. Initially announced for release in the second half of 2008, the phone’s release date was pushed back to February 2009 in a series of website errors by Sony Ericsson. Widely circulated rumors then claimed a release date of October when online retailer Expansys hinted at October and listed a price for the phone. So we have gone from mid-2008 to February 2009, to October 2008, to January 2009, and now back to October 2008. Which one is the correct date? The top screen grab by us or the bottom one by the Register. Looks like we don’t know and from all these changes neither does Sony Ericsson.

I dont even care about this phone anymore! NEXT!
that’s what happens when you out-source your products … oh well, the touch pro will be available soon =p
Sony hyped this up way too early. I think most people who originally sought after this phone have lost interest. Now with this delay, I couldn’t care less about the phone. Unless they’re including some new change with the phone, I think it’s just aiming for failure.
I used to be a big SE fanboy. Then I moved on to smart phones and being on ATT’s network went to HTC. Initially this was a move to hold me over until this huge X1 machine rolled out. I don’t know if I can hold out long enough to wait for this phone.
it still has windows mobile, so it’s no good
I still like the device but the delays are making it unattractive at this moment and by the time it is released its being outpaced by better well designed smart phones.
