New Silver Motorola Q with Windows Mobile 6.1 now available at AT&T

That mysterious silver Motorola Q9h that we reported on last week has finally went on at AT&T. With metallic pinstripes and a silver keyboard, it looks like our picture was spot on. As expected, it runs Windows Mobile 6.1 with standard features like 3G and GPS. You know how we love us some AT&T Navigator… Nice color and a new version of Windows Mobile but not much more than the previous Q9h. It is available now for $149.99 with a two-year contract. Also, a new version of BlackBerry Connect has been posted to Motorola’s site which adds compatibility with Windows Mobile 6.1 on the Q9. Any takers, or was this just an unnecessary refresh?

Now why would Motorola not join the club of a “tri-band” UMTS/HSDPA phone? Its almost like every smartphone maker these days wants to have a product that is truly a world phone. Even if they bumped up the cost a bit I think they could make a compelling case to compete with the likes of Samsung with their Blackjack II.

So the Blackjack II is even cheaper than the Q and still offers a full spectrum of Wireless connectivity!

looks nice. is there a rest-of-the-world version coming out or is this an att only thing?

fwiw, i’ve always found that the q9h seem to have less (not that there are none, just comparatively fewer) issues than the other win-mo phones.

    I’d say it was necessary.

Not sure I’d purchase the phone myself, but I do love the new design. The metallic pinstripes and the silver keyboard.. just my style!

I like it. I have a Q9h and I can honestly say that it is the best phone that I have ever had. the 6.1 update made it even better. The Blackjack II feels like a cheap toy compared to the Q9h. I think the additional color was a good decision by ATT but it could have come sooner.

Thats strange as of yesterday afternoon the AT&T store still had the old Q listed on its website (I know as I had to go to Motorola’s website to get the specs)..sometime late yesterday, they switched it to the new pix with the new specs….

This one looks a lot better than the silver and blue Q9h, but this is an outdated device by now.

i would say b/c orig Q9h sales sucked, so a simpler SW upgrade(WM 6.1) and change to the look was done…what would have been nicer was the phone moto had that could seamlessly hand off from VOIP to Cell networks, oh yea, working proto was developed ovr 2 years ago;)(project killed, guess they missed the boat on that one)
