BlackBerry Bold set to be released on AT&T on October 2nd?
Consider this a pretty solid bit of info, though it has not been double or triple confirmed like we normally like to do, and well, we saw what happened with Rogers. We’ve heard from pretty high up source at AT&T that they’re aiming to have the BlackBerry Bold in stores on October 2nd. That’s a Thursday, so we’re assuming the full launch would be on the following Monday, the 6th. Let’s see how this pans out…
I’ve been waiting since the end of July. I’m still saying “what’s another month?” I just want to have a good, working phone.
Of course, I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. Is it AT&T’s fault? Or is it RIM’s? I don’t know, but if the Bolds have been released everywhere else, then I would suspect it’s AT&T’s fault. But it could be RIM’s fault for not meeting the specifications that AT&T wants. I don’t know. But I wish it would hurry up and get here…..but what’s another month?
The whole lip service of making it more in tune with ATT’s service is pure BS. Standards are STANDARDS. You don’t make a product then tune it to be compatible with NTSC. It either is, or isn’t. Same thing with 240v or otherwise. It either works or doesn’t. What bollocks.

Peep this. I wrote a post earlier about how I betrayed (momentarily) the CrackBerry life. After getting rid of that iPhone 3G, I had some issues with getting my BIS back on. I spoke with a nice lady (a techie) who gladly helped me out. In conversation, I asked about the Bold, she said they are being trained so they can provide support when the Bold joins the fleet. Timeframe? By late September… this would fall in place according to your 2 Oct launch prediction.
Oct. 2nd, but what year?
Come on everyone, anticipation is half the fun. Guess what, if your problem is that you have to wait a month (or even two…oh my!) for a damn PHONE, you HAVE NO PROBLEM.
I’m getting the Bold, as well as the Treo Pro. I wish the Treo Pro was available through AT&T.
why are so many peeps rep-ing giz? that site is a joke when you look at their sources compaired to BG. Has Giz ever had anything that BG didn’t have already or more correct?

The bold is currently being tested by a number of corporations and will be released for purchase in about 30 days. I’m no expert here but I believe bold was released in small markets to work out the bugs before exposing it to a major market like the US. Also makes no sense to release around same time as iphone. I would rather wait and have a solid device vs having a device which doesn’t work as promised. I’m a long term bb user and a reliable device is well worth the wait.
I was at the John Mayer Concert over the weekend (sponsored by AT&T and Blackberry) and talked to the reps that were there. They said the bold would not be available until January. Just putting that out there for y’all.
I change phones more than I change my purse, so it was refreshing to find a phone that could truly capture my attention like the Bold. I was looking on the BB webise today looking at accessories that I will soon (hopefully) buy and read something that gave me a glimmer of hope: “Available 09/10/2008″. I’m going to assume this information, coupled with reports of mid-Septembr releases are correct. I mean, why else would they make the extras available that soon if the device wasn’t to be released until October?

I went into AT&T yesterday and after much flirting and inquiring about the Bold, I was told it will be available next week! Sadly I don’t have an upgrade, so I hope retail price isn’t over $400!

I am really getting sick of this. If they would just tell us the release date, then maybe i would wait. But not knowing is really frustrating, especially when you are desperate for a new phone!!
So uh, I dont need this phone…but I do buy about two phones a year just because I dig phones. Yes, it gets expensive, but oh well. I have the Curve now. The Bold is the only phone Ive ever freakishly waited for. I almost took the iPhone plunge, but I cant support that piece of trash. What really bothers me about the iPhone is that phones these days are used for a few big reasons, phone, texting, multimedia. What good is the iPhone if you cant send MMS?! I dont get it, Apple! Please explain. Its missing some very basic features. Anyway, just venting. Im ready for this thing to show up. I dont trust any sales people, those folks only know the register!

This thing looks great! But, if the battery is a short lived as someone mentioned it may be a non-starter for me; I’ll stick with my Curve.

Don’t buy it from AT&T their EULA removes your right to sue them, censors your internet, will cut off your service if you dislike their servies, and your monthly bill will be like $75! They are raping you on all fronts!!! Wait for another carrier, after all you’ve waited 5 months, whats another 2 weeks. I refuse to buy anything from AT&T. Corrupt.

My local AT&T store told me that it’s not coming out until November. Who knows at this point.
