BlackBerry Bold set to be released on AT&T on October 2nd?

Consider this a pretty solid bit of info, though it has not been double or triple confirmed like we normally like to do, and well, we saw what happened with Rogers. We’ve heard from pretty high up source at AT&T that they’re aiming to have the BlackBerry Bold in stores on October 2nd. That’s a Thursday, so we’re assuming the full launch would be on the following Monday, the 6th. Let’s see how this pans out…

RIM is really pissin me off, i held off on an iphone 3g cuz i thought this was gonna be out sooner, if they keep this up they’re going to lose a lot more customers than just me, and it will be because of availability, not the phone at all. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, they seem to have NO sense of urgency whatsoever

For those of you protesting about how an October release kills the deal for you or that it’s TWO months away…. HUH!?

August 29th… October 2nd.. slightly over ONE month. Sept 12th is a basically two weeks away… October 2nd a little over 4 weeks away. If you can’t wait 4 weeks for something, albeit a phone, then I feel very sorry for you.

I have the first Samsung Blackjack and am ready for an upgrade, NOW. I actually just heard about the Blackberry Bold in July, so I haven’t been waiting as long as everyone else. It does kind of suck that they release the phone information back in May and it has yet to be released in the USA. Maybe in the future, RIM can hold off on official announcements until most kinks have been worked out the devices they’re promoting. I’m hoping the release date is September 12th as my current Blackjack is old and sort of outdated. So old in fact, the Blackjack II has been out almost a year. I wanna be apart of the Crackberry nation, but I want the phone to work properly at the same time.

Please let the release date be September 12th, whoo hoo!!!!

It seems that the “now expected” release of the Bold will coincide with with the release of Google’s Android.
While the “Droid” is clearly Not a BB it WILL dip into Rim’s market share. Another marketing marvel of Rim’s Marketing Division; Good job boys and girls.

I think at&t finally accepted that their 3G service is terrible at least for the voice side of it. Maybe RIM thinks it’s their Bold that’s causing issues. Before the 3G iPhone came out, I was probably one of the first people to say that the 3G service SUCKED but NOOOOOO!! No one believed me. I work for at&t and I have had so many people come up because they only ever have one bar. All I do is turn off the 3G and it’s back to full bars. I’m “patiently” waiting for the Bold as well and all I hope is that there’s a way to turn the 3G off because I’ll never use it.

People saying “what’s another month” clearly haven’t been waiting for this thing since the end of July/early August which was the original release timeframe.

I can’t believe I read this entire thread. I’m excited for the Bold to come out. I’ve had the curve since February, and the ONLY problem I have with it is the Edge network speed. I’m looking forwawrd to having the 3G on the Bold. As for the exclusivity, it makes good sense. Keeps competition up! And don’t think for a minute that hardcore Blackberry users won’t jump ship from Verizon or anywhere else to get their hands on it. As a regular At&t rep, the number of people jumping over for the iPhone was ridiculous and still is. And I’d pay the Early Termination Fee required to jump ship and get the Bold, if it’s as good as they say. Of course, I don’t have to…

Anyone have any idea when the bold will be available for sale with carriers other than AT&T? Will Verizon be a year behind like with the Curve? If 3G is causing so many issues why not save that till 2nd generation and get that bold out there? Please be advised that these questions are completely innocent. I am not smartphone Savvy by any means so relax…

    LEE,

contract or not, you are still paying for the service and ATT doesn’t make squat for the phone. in fact they lose money on them. But, i like how you use capitalized words and say things like “BABE RUTH”

    *sigh* idiot

I work for AT&T, and I can say that anyone on the store level that says they know a release date for this device has heard nothing but speculation from someone higher than them. I’m not saying the really important people don’t know, but the store employees don’t know.

    A Nightmare on RIM Street
Last Friday was rather interesting. The word was spreading fast about Mr. Bold coming to town. I’ve heard this one before; quite a few times actually. In a very cynical way I started thinking about taking the iPlunge. I did.
Like all new marriages, it was love at first sight. The presentation and looks of the menus had me at hello. I tried using the Google Maps application included. I had done my research and was positive that the AT&T Navigator was a no-go on the iPhone but what the heck; the store rep convinced me that the hours I spent reading about this very lack of support in online forums meant nothing because in his expert opinion he was sure it worked. Well, I kissed my bootylicious Curve 8310 goodbye and… The stupid thing doesn’t work!

Yea, the iPhone is all looks and has a sexy browser but typing on this thing is out of this world; it is so painful Freddy Kruegger would be happy. Because of work I find myself near a busy airport. I watch in dismay as my 3G bars fluctuate with each passing aircraft.

My Curve was lighting fast for emailing and texting. Did you know you cannot receive MMS? WTF?! No copy paste, no spoken turn by turn GPS directions, no video, no camera flash, but the Oscar goes to… The iPhone’s virtual keyboard; it slows the feces out of you.

Awesome browser + iPod + cool apps + a whole lot of lipstick = iPhone 3G

Thank DOG (cannot use The Lord’s Name in vain) AT&T has that 30 days buyers remorse return plan. This rotten apple is going back to its 3G maker.

I will settle for that 88-Series-like mushy keyboard on the Bold until the Curve’s QWERTY makes into a mythological Javelin 3G. In the mean time I have a lot of explaining to do when I get home…

I hope my boo takes me back…
