Consider this a pretty solid bit of info, though it has not been double or triple confirmed like we normally like to do, and well, we saw what happened with Rogers. We’ve heard from pretty high up source at AT&T that they’re aiming to have the BlackBerry Bold in stores on October 2nd. That’s a Thursday, so we’re assuming the full launch would be on the following Monday, the 6th. Let’s see how this pans out…

I believe self control is important in the comments posted. A lot and I do mean A LOT of pissed off people are putting on their not so good language.
It’s just a phone…maybe a miniature computer but not the end of the world ok…

I second that, I mean I know it’s hard to wait patiently for something you really want, but it IS just a phone, and I’m sure all you guys already have pretty cool phones already anyways..

BG - do you know what the price point is going to be? I’m trying to decide whether to buy one off ebay or wait for AT&T. I’ll be paying full retail on AT&T.
This latest news is pushing me to want to buy a Rogers version and unlock it.

Even though Gizmodo reports Sept 12th, I will believe it when I see it. Blackberry is given themselves a real thrashing as the analysts will have a field day with all the delays. Hey when the competition smokes you, even if their product has some warts, at least the customers have it.

Yes, they all treat us like crap, but Verizon has too much proprietary control on their handsets. At least AT&T almost lets the real beast out. When you get a verizon handset, versus an unlocked handset, you can’t believe the differences.

I told my daughter who is nursing her old pearl to get an updated curve instead, it will be cheaper and I find the Curve to be a great phone plus PDA. truly, as stated by others it is just a phone, and another corporate FUBAR. Personally, my son jumped to the iPhone from a curve and isn’t looking back, other than to laugh and say, he too could be waiting monthe for RIM’s next best creation.

I have agree if they released it before fixing the Edge to 3G transition then we would be pissed off. Next RIM never stated the release dates were July, August, September, there has never been any formal announcement that I have read anywhere.
So if this one holds true and it sounds like it will then 30 days or so is what is needed to get the code that was talked about last week flashed to a 100,000 phones.
Also if someone here can build a better smartphone please do it and get it carrier certified and out in mass production, I’ll buy one.
I just put it on my calender to get one on 10/2.

I think BGR is right. According to a crackberry thread, an ATT Bold field tester said they just updated his Bold with a new unit and are collecting it on the ninth of September. That makes an October debut a lot more realistic. That field tester says sometime around Halloween.

Any 3G device will be rendered useless, for as long as AT&T has there crappy 3G network that sucks at hand offs, the bold just like the iPhone will have the same fate.
They just keep pushing the device back to buy sometime, or let the iPhone phase run its course until the hype dies down and people realize the network there phones are on is the real problem.

Argggh, another month! What’s up with these delays? I might go for the iPhone after all if they keep stalling. What a joke.

Heard today from a “High” official at AT&T that the entire deal with RIM is in jeopardy as the Bold 3G antenna WILL NOT work with AT&T’s network; How depressing!!!!!

Dude, if this thing is really dropping October 2nd, it’s fucking unacceptable. I won’t buy it, I’ll get something else. We’ve been on the hook for far too long. October 2nd doesn’t make any sense, how is it out in Canada NOW and comes to the USA in two months? That is ludicrious.
I hope Gizmodo is right.

Just spoke to an AT&T executive; The Bold, as designed will not work on the AT&T “3G” network do to a faulty design in Rim’s 3G antenna. AT&T is demanding a retooling of the phone’s antenna.
It has failed every test AT&T has put it through. Please not THIS IS NOT A SOFTWARE ISUUE!!!!!
The Bold will not be released for quite a while on AT&T…..if at all!!!!!!

Anyone from with a rogers or tmob, bold in the US that can say if the 3G works with ATT? I’m guessing it does since the standards are the same.

and if it’s at&t network not handeling the handoff’s properly how come every 3g phone I’ve had beside the iphone worked perfect. My q, My tilt all flawless.

Ok Perry
The fact that other unlocked Bolds that ARE working flawlessly on ATT must be fiction concocted by ghosts. You should know by now, speaking with “sources, ATT higher ups, excutives, their cousins” means absolutely squat.

My ATT reps are being trained on the bold next week. I work for a financial institution and we are a big client for the area reps.

Your statement that the problems are related to an antenna issue are mildly flawed. Antennas are designed for specific frequencies or frequency ranges, AT&Ts cell frequencies are the same as the majority of GSM providers around the world (and their 3G radios use the same frequencies as those around the world, unlike Tmobile who chose to license the 2100mhz band in the US).
There is no way the cellphone would work anywhere in the world with a broken antenna, and then not work on AT&T

That’s great for all you at&t customers, but what about T-mobile. When is the Bold coming out for T-mobile? damnit!!!
