Windows Mobile 6.1: Samsung Blackjack II edition
‘Tis the season for Windows Mobile 6.1 updates. Following closely on the recent updates for the HTC Tilt and the Verizon VX6800, Samsung has decided to bless us with a little 6.1 love for the Blackjack II. The specs should be old hat for you by now, but in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past several months, the new firmware brings threaded SMS, a new paned home screen, better power management, and more to the WM Standard device. The update can be downloaded effective immediately, and while the process is not exactly painless (all of your data will be wiped) we can’t think of a good reason not to make the jump.
UPDATE: It looks like Samsung has pulled the download page for the time being. No word on when it might return, but we’ll keep checking and keep you posted.

And before ppl chime in; Yes, I know about the hacked 6.1 ROM.
Anyone know if this will re-lock my phone?
It’s still not actually available. They just have the instructions up. Hopefully its a sign of a release soon though…
Just like the original Tilt 6.1 announcement, nobody actually confirmed that it was indeed there and the right version. It is a sign that it is on the way, but the Tilt upgrade took about a week from the time HTC updated the site until it was actually there. Here’s hoping though.
I have an AT&T BJII, anyone know if I have to get the update through AT&T to retain my AT&T settings like their cingular video, and internet settings, or if I can just update it through this process?

Maybe it has the same problems the Tilt 6.1 update has…BRICKING IT.
This fiasco the second time in a row with a second device makes me think that this will most likely be the last Samsung windows mobile device I am likely to purchase. I’d rather pay out for an HTC device, no matter how much uglier and bricky they tend to be, just for the chance to customize and get more life out of my device with a rom of my own choosing. HTC doesn’t make their device, XDA-Dev does. Just a small rant–disregard.
amen. thats not just a rant, its the truth for many many wi-mo users. for me it eas 8125, 8525, 8925. got sick of the graphics lag on the last one (titlt) tried out bj2. oops.
the touch pro, the dream, or the xperia can not come out soon enough.

Does anyone know how I can activate predictive texting on my blackjack 2 with the new WM 6.1 version? I can’t seem to find how to put it on. Any help would be nice!
