Your first look at BeeJive for iPhone: consider every other IM app dead and buried

If you haven’t dabbled in the goodness that is BeeJive (formally JiveTalk), you are really missing out. Creators of the best IM program for the BlackBerry devices (this isn’t up for debate, ok?), we were ecstatic when we found out they were making an official iPhone application. Let’s start it off by saying MobileChat, Palringo, and yes, even AIM’s official application, sit down. You are done. Finished. Even in its beta state, it’s going to take a whole lot to knock BeeJive off the podium. It’s the most stable IM application we’ve ever used on the iPhone, it supports every single IM service under the sun, and does so in an awesome and clean user interface. Let’s not forget functionality, though. What good is an IM app that never works? We’re pleased to report that BeeJive handles connections with ease. You can specify your timeout time in the settings, and the application will continue to receive messages when the app is closed. As soon as you launch it, your missed messages are there. They even went as far as to include background notification support, so as soon as Apple flips that switch, notification sounds and badges will be pushed to you instantly. Again, this is a beta version, but even now, it’s the best IM application to use. Ok, you’re sold. When can you get it and how much? We’re not able to provide you with a release date or pricing at the moment, but it shouldn’t be too long before you can get your hands on BeeJive’s IM application for the iPhone. If they make it free then I might think about putting Palringo on the back burner, but I doubt it.

jive talk rules for a im client…

I swore off paying for it..after trying every pos (even IM+) for my curve. And then I tried it when BGR /blackberryforums.com recommended it. Tried it for 10 days ..bought a full license.

And they listen, they even included a idle out while in holster option which is the one thing rambleIM had in the very next version after I suggested it. Responsive and fantastic!!

I place full faith in what BGR says about jivetalk, not because it’s BGR but because it’s jivetalk. My most used proggie on my blackberry hands down. I do believe they offer a 1 month trial however after a couple days with it I am sure most will realize how mch it’s worth and fork over the cash. Can’t wait for the release of beejive. Let us beta test it if we have current licenses is my humble opinion :p

It doesn’t matter how much we paid for a phone. I had a blackberry and I used the free IM programs that were provided with it (yahoo, aim) and never had an issue. I even beta tested jivetalk when they posted the demo on bbf. It’s a solid program, but I can’t justify paying that much for an IM program especially since we’ll probably see better and free ones.

And your logic sucks, that would be precisely the reason someone wouldn’t want to spend 30 bucks on an IM program.

So that would mean Skype chat too, no?

Those of you who say that 30 dollars is too much… Looks like you never used BeeJive. This is THE best app for BlackBerry your money can buy. Plus, you buy this app for your whole life because upgrades are free.

the problem with the app store is that we don’t have a trial period to test the software to see if we want it. On the blackberry, you had a trial license for test it and see if it works as you wished.

It was a great app for the bb but it didn’t beat native windows live messenger app!

For all of you guys complaining about it being too expensive, THEY HAVEN’T EVEN RELEASED A PRICE FOR IT YET. Im using beejive on windows mobile(which is AWESOME by the way) and it was FREE.

Text input obscures the chat behind a black bubble? Are these screenshots for real? Sure, it works, but it looks like a visually-appealing UI had to be sacrificed for that to happen. At $16, I think I’ll pass on something that I find visually offensive.

it runs in the background !!! you can use your ipod while it’s on. it stays on 24/7 with little battery usage. if you have push email (yahoo, exchange, mobileme), it notifies you instantly of an incoming message there. you can even set it to use sms to notify you.

It doesn’t run in the background at all you dumb nugget, christ, everyone knows the iPhone firmware doesn’t allow apps to run in the background yet.

10 quid is steep for a multi-IM app, specially since Fring just came out, is FREE, and supports Skype VOIP over wifi on top of all the usual IM suspects.
