BlackBerry Storm 9530 is BlackBerry Thunder, BlackBerry Thunder is BlackBerry Storm, for realz

That was a nice roller-coaster ride, no? Our main man Chris Zigz over at Engadget Mobile scored actual BlackBerry Storm packaging renders, and well, the BlackBerry Storm doesn’t look to bringing that much rain. If we read the box correctly, it seems as if there is an 8GB microSD card pre-installed (totally weak in our opinion), a 3.5mm headset jack, pre-installed SIM card, and no Wi-Fi. It is indeed a global phone, as stated on the box, our original scoop, and the SIM card bit (duh!), but other intricate details are unavailable at this time. Oh yeah, the name! Here is the break down on that: the BlackBerry Storm is for Verizon, and the BlackBerry Thunder is the name for the device on other carriers such a Rogers and Vodafone. Wait, Rogers? So much for that huge exclusivity. We guess RIM realized they’d only have a limited run with Verizon being the sole carrier in North America, and we’re not so sure about having different names for the same device. It’s one thing to have different model numbers for the slightest variations (read: wack), but for the same device? Oh well. We’re still holding true to our rumored mid-September marketing blitz and mid-October release date on Verizon Wireless.

I’ve been with ATT for years, and am getting so tired of waiting for the Bold, that if Vrz gets Storm before ATT gets Bold, I’ll probably change.

Here in New Orleans area, every major storm we lose ATT service for a week to 10 days (no phone, no web, only occasional text), but Vrz and Alltel still have service.

BTW, I tried Instinct. The phone is great but Sprint in my home only got 1 bar and I’m very close to the interstate where service would normally be very strong.

So I’m ready to try something new.

    Just my opinion.

Who cares about the free stick of memory that’s expandable? Who cares about the name or it’s origin? I’ve owned the BB Verizon World Edition/Qualcomm 3G CDMA for over a year now and love it. I love the track ball. I use my device constantly. I reply on email notifications for work on a daily basis and require internet access quick to accept work orders, or someone else sitting at home will get my work. I feel intimidated by the Apple Iphone. It appears to work the internet faster, but I think I get my emails faster with my BB. I’m always a sucker for better and think the touch screen is cool, but not effective enough to switch phones. I can’t wait to get the facts on this device and compare it to what I have. If any of you can suggest the best device I can buy that will achieve the fastest internet SAP connectivity and email send/receive. I would greatly appreciate it your input and feedback as I have read all the posts and it is apearent that this blog has some brilliant insightful people. Kindly, just a novice end user who knows nothing. Just trying to better my portable communication.

Will a version be available that doesn’t have a camera?
