Sprint stiffs Uncle Sam, ignores impoverished schoolchildren

Five parcels of Johnson County, Kansas land, belonging to none other than Sprint, have unpaid property taxes this year. Sprint is delinquent to the county to the tune of $18,216.54. If you notice a sudden drop in Dorothy and Toto’s readin’, writin’, and ‘rithmetic scores, you’ll know who is responsible. According to Sprint, the mistake is due to an oversight by their unnamed property-tax-paying department. Sprint continues to be committed to education, which is why they ensure that there is no signal anywhere near a school – so those young ne’er-do-wells can’t text in class. Wait, that’s just poor coverage.

    I don’t know why anyone is surprised. It seems like everyone is biased against Sprint lately. Shame, but we don’t care. Quietly improve, innovate, and change for the better when everyone else is static, and hope for the best. What else can we really do? If we took negative press to heart we would have committed seppuku years ago. (see: merge w/Nextel… wait a minute)

    Plus its not like we don’t see the humor here. Good work Boy Genius for being more on the ball than our “undisclosed property-tax-paying department.”

    BGR posted this story “knowing the responses [they'd] get.” To me, this means that they’re now being selective about what pieces of fluff (not news) they post, and are aiming at stirring the pot of already-pissed-off Sprint users.

    That, coupled with the fact that BGR’s content and update frequency aren’t up to snuff with my #1 visit, EngadgetMobile, have fairly well eliminated any reason for me to visit BGR again.

    Lose the bias, BGR. It’s not attractive.

    ^ Lose the self-imposed “victim status” and get over yourself to the point where you can appreciate the humor. You’ll live longer.

    Who gives a flying fu** if anyone says anything bad about any wireless carrier? 1, they are just freaking large corporations with no feelings what so ever. And 2, they all suck for one reason or another. Sprint has horrible cs, verizon over charges, AT&T overcharges data, t-mob has no 3g, and Alltel is prostituting itself to vzw. No need to get your panties in a bunch because a wireless carrier was put down.

    I don’t know where the AT&T shit comes into play…we don’t bash them as hard because in all honestly, they have not slipped up as much as the other carriers recently. Verizon has the best voice network in the USA, AT&T has the best phones, T-Mobile has the best customer service, and Sprint… well…

    Happy? :)

    Actually JD Power just named Verizon best in customer service. T-Mobile must die!

    And of course Verizon also has the best data service.

    @Greg

    Yeah but in all honestly, dealing with T-Mobile reps personally to me is 10x better than dealing with Verizon reps. Though lately VZW has been very good. AT&T customer care opens at 10AM and closes at noon.

    you did neglect to mention that these unpaid taxes have since been FULLY PAID… WITH PENALTIES.

    and that’s according to your linked source!

    bias and attempted humor are expected. we can filter through all that. but at least give us the real story.

    engadgetmobile doesn’t put a good light on Sprint either but at least they report new devices, they’ve posted about the Diamond, Pro and others in between BGR’s leaked roadmap and this tax thing. I see it as selective reporting
