Apple Tops Satisfaction Survey

The iPhone may be looking a little shaky with all of those cracks and dropped calls (yeah, we totally went there), but it appears that an Apple a day keeps the… buyer’s remorse away. The University of Michigan’s National Quality Research Center found that Apple was the number 1-rated in customer satisfaction on the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). Apple’s score of 85 was a full 11 points above the industry average, and 10 points above the score of Dell, the number 2-rated computer manufacturer. This ranking represents a historic high in the industry. Now if we could only get our hands on that MacBook Touch…

That’s not really saying much. Dell’s customer service is AWFUL. I ordered a laptop from them recently and had to make an address change afterwards. They called me every day for five days saying that there was a problem with the address, which I verified and re-changed each time. Finally, to get anything done, I had to cancel the order and place a different new one. On top of that, every rep I spoke to just wanted to get me off the phone. Nice.

Then again I guess customer service is crap wherever you go. I had a problem with my iPod third gen a long time ago. I called Apple, they just told me to buy a new iPod. That’s not service, that’s just sales.

It doesn’t seem that the reporting period included the last few weeks, arguably the most complaint filled period in Apple’s history.

I really don’t have a problem with my iPhone 3G. It just works, as well as could be expected. 3G isn’t very fast - it has massive latency issues. I’ve had a few 3G phones and air cards and none of them have any “wow” factor at all.

So far the 3G iPhone is par for the course of any other phone. Have you ever used a perfect phone? Really?

C’mon people. I might me an angry, evil person - but I have no complaints.

The argument that the last few weeks are the most complaint-filled in Apple’s history is incredibly shallow and silly. I mean, let’s be honest. When were there more complaints/issues? Is it now, when we all have web access and gobs of available data, plus (generally) plenty of computer experience (and for all those grandmas that aren’t so savvy, they probably don’t have iPhones anyway). Or, was it in 1984, when the “personal computer” was still an entirely new concept, and there was no widely available internet outside of the DoD and University research labs? Hmmm. . .I’m guessing there were a tad few more difficulties then than now, based on the circumstances. No offense Greg, but to claim otherwise only makes sense if you believe the sun rises when you wake up, and/or the world began when you were born. Cheers.

I wonder if Apple dropped the rainbow logo since it was seen as too gay? (not that there’s anything wrong with that)

    @Perspective,
You have a good point - but I think Greg was alluding to the popularity of the iPhone 3G issues. I don’t see his comment as self-centered. More of the fact that he associated how vocal and viral the gripes about the iPhone 3G with a lot of people experiencing problems.

In fact - It’s a lot like the democratic party. They love to be vocal, love to be in the media and scream injustice, corruption and how republicans only cut taxes for the riches 1%, when the richest 1% of the country are decidedly democratic. Anyway - make a lot of noise and people think there are more than there actually are. I think they did the same thing in war like 15,000 years ago. They would scream really loud and bang really big drums so it sounded like they had all these thousands of warriors, when they maybe had 1,500.

The dogs bark is far worse than its bite, as the saying goes.

Dtest54: Warren Buffet has donated large sums of money to Democratic organizations and politicians. He did also endorse a few republican presidents but none recently that I am aware. Larry Ellison is Jewish and he endorsed quite a few democratic presidents. Paul Allan is a big philanthropist being friends with Bill Gates and his wife’s foundation. Sheldon Adelson was born to a very democratic family in Boston although he became republican over the years (although I didn’t find anything recent). There are quite a few more, as well as a lot of extremely wealthy democrats.

I’m not saying that most Republicans in public life aren’t very wealthy, but take a look at Oprah shes a major democrat.

Oh and a majority of the richest senators (past and presently) are Democrats:
    1. John F. Kerry (D-MA) $675 million
    2. Jon Corzine (D-NJ) $400 million
    3. Herb Kohl (D-WS) $300 million
    4. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) $200 million
    5. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) $50 million
    8. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) $30 million
    9. Sen. Mark Dayton (D-MN) $20 million
    10. Sen. John Edwards (D-NC) $15 million
    11. Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) $10 million

    So no, I’m not kidding.

Dude, I am not going to list the entire top 1%. Just admit it, your a raging liberal that doesn’t want to hear anything that goes against what you have your mind set to. I bet you thought buying drugs from Canada was a good idea too.

I am not about going to list 3 million names because Mr. Dtest54 wants to blatantly show his politics without showing any proof of his own and automatically discounts other theories only on the principal that it goes against what you’ve been brainwashed to thing.

Put the bong down, cut off the dreadlocks, put away the New York Times grab a nice hamburger made with real cows that were fed all sorts of nasty chemicals and growth hormones and listen up.

So ladies and gentlemen Every person who makes more than $100k a year is a dirty republican and kicks puppies, steals candy from babies, yells at their grandmothers, and cheats on their taxes. My Proof? Simple. Because Mr. Dtest54 said so.

Give me a break. Why don’t you call 3 million people and ask them who they voted for in the past 3 Presidential elections.

I know a guy who is on his third mac despite being ripped off by the dealer and is till unable to use it despite it being “so easy” so perhaps this explains the satisfaction ratings.
