Comments on: HTC Touch Pro hands on!

My initial thoughts are that the Touch Pro is an extremely nice device, the screen seems to be more sensitive than the Touch Diamond and it looks like HTC have spent the extra time with the Pro refining a few things. The TouchFlo3D interface seems more fluid and that QWERTY keyboard it great. It’s a little bit bigger than I had anticipated and looks almost twice as thick as the Diamond plus the additional 50 grams may not sound like a lot but make it close to 50% heavier. Also, that TV-out feature that everyone has been talking about requires a special cable that you have to buy separately!

Has anyone heard if Telus will follow up the Diamond with this one? I’d love to get my hands on this, and I think it would be worth waiting a couple months for…but I haven’t heard anything about whether or not Telus is bringing it in!

That thing is way too thick! Thats what she said! But for real, why cant HTC make anything thinner? If you can get devices like the Q9 that are thin, why cant this be thinner? Makes the new Palm Pro look pretty nice!

unfortunately folks, it won’t work on T-Mobile’s 3G, so don’t spend your money on it if you were thinking about it for that purpose. They are going to 1700 UMTS, and the Touch Pro is 1900 I have decided I am waiting for the Dream…

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who WHINE that such a device is too big.

Either:
A) they aren’t serious users.
or
B) They will whine that they can’t read the display, that the battery life is too short and that the keyboard is too difficult to type on.

Get real people and stop putting BAD ideas in the marketing droids ears. In order for a device like this to mature, it needs to be a little bit larger NOT smaller. People need to be able to get more legible information on the display to more closely emulate a typical web browser experience. The battery MUST last long enough to be a day out in the field. The keyboard must allow someone to be able to type with minimal frustration.

I personally welcome a keyboard with a familiar layout. If AT&T is going to be marketing this with the keyboard I have seen pictures of, well, they are showing great lack of intelligence, as who wants to hunt for keys that they know the location of on their familiar desktop keyboard?

If you say it’s too big for your pocket, either stick with a SIMPLE phone, or get a holster or a purse, and let those of us who need a reasonable laptop supplement get something we can use and enjoy.

I have the diamond, after rom updates I was able to get it to work on att, but it was just to small in my hands. Today my touch pro came. WOW. its only edge right now, but it dont matter, this phone is hot. word is that when the att version comes,the radio might b able to b hacked to make it 3g,but it dont matter,I LOVE IT.I might get the dream for tmob, but other than that i think im done for awhile.

In your review can you explain why this beats the X1? I thought the X1 would be the WM King.

Can i PLEASE get a comparison between this and the iPhone on video playback? I know the Touch Pro has a higher resolution but what is better in these 2 catagories?

1. Do you prefer high resolution standard screen size or standard resolution big screen size?

2. Which one has the ability to handle big time action scenes better?

Oh and which one is better on web surfing

Wish they didn’t go back to the numeric keys across the top. Feels like a flashback to the MDA. Much prefer the setup on the Tilt that keeps them in a usable config. Guess HTC figures we’ll all be using the touch screen to enter numbers now.

As for pricing with contract, in Australia we can get the phone for free with Telstra. For example, Touch Diamond is free when you sign up for a $80 plan contract for 2 years. Touch Pro will probably be free on a $100 plan contract. And yes the Touch series in Australia supports 850 MHz 3G network.

It is thinner than TyTN. About same thickness as TyTNII.

When I was using TyTN, I don’t put it in my pocket. I have a leather case that can clip to my belt. I found that very handy and to reach for the phone when I needed it and I didn’t have to worry about dropping the phone from my pocket.

Balla – The Touch Diamond has a 4gb on board storage and the Touch Pro has a microSD slot for swapping. I do believe the cost is higher considering more money to make compared to the Diamond.
Everyone else concerned with size – Consider this it has a slideout qwerty keyboard. Slimmer phones with smaller processors don’t have the same functionality as the Pro does.
Love HTC now I need to figure out a way to get one of these to review for myself. Hahaha any suggestions?

Rumor has it (WMExperts) that Sprint will launch the Touch Diamond on Septemebr 2 with the Touch Pro about a month behind.

Personally I prefer the on-screen keyboard. I’m actually using the Touch Diamond keyboard on my Touch Vogue. Hopefully Septemebr 2 is the right date.

I might get this if it had Wi-Fi (heard it did in some other site but no sure), more memory than the Diamond (I think I heard it had less internal memory), and microSD slot(hot swappable and again read it somewhere that it did). If it was also the same price as the CDMA Diamon, then I might just get this instead, if not then I’ll just get the Diamond. Anyone know if the screen resolution is the same as the Diamond yet?

Skinnier for sure, but I don’t know. I find people who like these types of phones like to show them off to other people and thus, the bigger it is, the better it is, eh? Nah, it’s cool in my book.
