If you happen to spend most of your time in one of the listed cities then your day just got a whole lot brighter. If you don’t, all we can say is better luck next year.

So the Dallas launch will cover the DFW area?
Someone correct me if i’m wrong, this means nothing to us (even current TMo users) cuz there is no phone that can utilize TMo’s 1700 band? I’ve got a “3G” phone, on AT&T i get 3G, but most likely won’t when TMo turns their 3G on in Orlando ??????
I’d be a happy camper if i could!
???
yeah I was ready to jump ship, after been skeptical but bring the dream ,I am already dreaming
I am so feening for T-mobile’s Detroit launch and a BB Bold. I almost made the switch to ATT but I love T-mo service and I have been trying to stay loyal. I am ready for a Bold or a Dream running Android but they need to get me some 3g already!!! Hurry UP!! I’ve been waiting for over a year now and I NEED a new phone!! I’m going to hold out till Oct hopefully it will be done by then. I think I can struggle with this Shadow for another 60 days!
@Wilson
t-mobile already has 4 3G phones. the htc dream, samsung tocco, sony erisson tm506 & w760 will be another 4 3g phones
Well, this has been the common SOP for T-Mobile. They won’t release til they’re somewhat secure that it will work. Something that definitely sunk AT&T Wireless (the first AT&T prior to being cingularified) was that they initiated GSM without a decent network and a network that could only use GSM 1900 handsets. Cingular wisely waited for GSM 850 for tower equipment *and* handsets so they could take advantage of the way the network was set up. Release a product before it’s really ready and you open yourself up to have problems. If you have problems your customers leave (as was the case with ATTWS.) Combine bad network with flubs in number portability and you have a good recipe for your customers to desert you in droves.
WTF is “New England” supposed to mean? The entire freakin New England area? Or WHAT?!
WTF is right why are there major and minor citys that have 3g but CHICAGO doesn’t why would a major city like us have to wait to god know when? I mean new york, most of texas, parts of cali but the windy city gets no relase date. well hope we have it when the dream comes out!!!!
Only T-Mobile engineers and network contractors along with their marketing teams know the where’s, why’s and how’s used to determine where they launch and at what date.
So far, not one of them have cared to share on this forum or any other one that I have read.
I though Los Angeles would for sure be right up there with NYC, but it wasn’t for whatever reason.
would i get 3g here im milwaukee after the 3g launch in chicago or what?
What I would like to know is what 3G they will be implimenting? There are several data standards out there. HSDPA? EVDO? I have just become frustrated with the companies telling me that what I have is high speed. When EDGE came out, I was told it was fast. STill, push a button and go get a cup of coffee while you wait…
Here’s praying the US companies will finally give us some speed. I will go with what ever company succeeds in that. I am a heavy mobile data user, and cannot wait!
then i need a qwerty 3g device tmobile get on it
Actually these phones are 3G already
Samsung t639
Samsung t819
Nokia 6263
Nokia 3555
I saw New Jersey on a previous list. I need NYC, Jersey, and Tampa. Two of them are covered. Does NY cover NJ, at least North Jerzee?
Agreed! Way too little, way too late.
I went with TM for many reasons years ago, but mostly because they were the front runners in cellphones and systems. That lasted about two minutes. They sold me what was touted as the best phone on the planet. It was in Europe, but they didn’t and still don’t have the network to support it the US. I got tired of the lies, waiting for coverage, severely bad tech and customer support, having to scream at executive reps to get my point across or even deal with simple problems, of which there were many. We finally decided to part ways. They agreed to fix a very big billing mistake, confirmed that their coverage was falsely reported and I agreed not to sue them. Now the tower that I can see from my house, the main reason I went with them after founding and being with several iterations of what is now Verizon in my area for over 15 years, gives me 5 bar coverage when I use my phone as a remote for my computer. I dump them and then they get good signal. Oh well. Always a day late, especially in Denver. They missed their big 3G roll out for the Democratic Convention. They must be Republicans.
Oh you can buy a JD Powers Award. So that’s no big deal.
I just got off the phone with tmobile ‘business’ customer service – they dont have a lot of 3G phone options now, but with more markets completed by End2008, they will likely be launching new devices. maybe not quite with Android, but maybe the HTC Diamond? who knows. anyway I will hold on to my Wing til early 2009 and see what devices they have.
I am excited that Tmo is coming out with 3G in the 1.7 GHz and 2.1 GHz spectrum. Yes it’s unique in the US (AT&T uses another frequency), but that’s the same spectrum they use in Europe. So you should be able to get unlocked phones meant for the European market working here. ***CAN ANYONE PLEASE CONFIRM THIS?*** So while AT&T has to have a 3G phone made for them (or have a multi band 3G phone), Tmo users probably won’t have to. Needless to say, I’ve never waited for Tmo to come out with a phone I liked. You have so much more choice when looking for a GSM phone when you look worldwide. Want 3G? 5MP Camera? Quad Bad? Slider? WiFi? Go and look for it!!! Stop depending on worthless contract to save you a penny for your lame Tmo phone.
T-Mobile’s 3G network will not be compatible with other networks. So unlocking your phone and moving it to Sprint will leave you without data access.
omg they have San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas is coming up when is it going to hit Corpus Christi??? Corpus is a pretty decent sized city, I mean come on!!!! i bet there are some cities in Texas that will get it before us. =/ oh well when i get the new kick, I’ll remain comfortable on EDGE but will be waiting anxiously for the 3G launch.
