Rogers announces official Blackberry Bold release date, August 21st

After several months of rumored release dates, false promises, disappointing rumors, and unfortunate delays Rogers Wireless has finally announced that the Blackberry Bold will be available beginning this Thursday, August 21st. While this is roughly 2 months after the first rumored release dates it’s still the first chance any of us in North American will have to purchase the handset via carrier-subsidized channels. Sure, interested parties are still looking at $399 on a 3-year contract, which is a bit insane given the relative cost of other competing handsets, but if you’re as excited about getting your hands on the latest and greatest RIM handset as we are, price is secondary to actual availability. Rogers employees have confirmed that they should be receiving their shipments beginning tomorrow, so lt’s all breathe a collective sigh of relief and summon a slow clap for RIM having finally ushered this beast out the door.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

The reason there is no update is because what you see in this post is an email that I and other received from rogers after signing up to their “release date form” that was on rogers sites when it went public about 2months ago that rogers “would” get the Bold. So this is like a pre-release official public date release email hehe. If im not mistaken then took down the link a couple days later

Galvatron: No offense, but I don’t think Apple cares whether a guy that takes his name from a transformer buys their product or not. In light of your punctuation, spelling and grammar issues, this is an idea that will likely sail right over your head. In the meantime, please say hello to “Soundwave” for me.

official 399 on 3 year term. Somewhere it was mentioned in a newspaper that it was 299. no dice.
On the website, 599 with no term, or if you’re dumb enough, you can also buy it for 599 on a 1 or 2 year plan. Give us a break, Rogers! The same price for a 0, 1, or 2 year plan and offering a discount ONLY on a 3 yr?
So, for the cost of 2 months service, you can be contract free.
F-U Rogers. And BTW, your website SUCKS, buy some more bandwidth, fukkers! Your profits soared, yet your subscriber base sunk over the last year. That tells you something; Crooks.

What is up with AT& T? The Bold has taken an eternity to be released without even a hint from them about a launch and just the other day Big Red (Verizon) runs an ad on television for the Blackberry Storm. If I had known I would grow old before this phone was released I would have opted for the Iphone.
