Palm Treo Pro Quietly Gets Official
After Palm’s mishap last week, it apparently decided to take the quiet route in announcing its upcoming Treo Pro handset. Very odd – it’s not even up on Palm’s site yet. Hopefully Palm won’t pull a Nokia and the actual launch will come with a bit more bells and whistles. You know, so that general consumers might actually be alerted to the existence of what looks like a pretty solid offering. First and foremost, it looks sweet. We obviously can’t speak to the build quality yet but this puppy looks nothing like boring old Treos past. The Treo Pro is sleek and thin with smooth lines and rounded edges. It also sports a 3.5 mm headphone jack and microSDHC support, giving it a good shot at being a usable multimedia phone. The fun doesn’t stop on the outside though; we’re talking tri-band WCDMA that will give users access to 3G (and 3.5G) networks around the world. Sorry T-Mobile US peeps, no 3G love for you from Palm. The rest of the important stuff has pretty much been covered in our specs post a few months ago. Odds are very good that AT&T will be picking it up though there are currently no details in terms of pricing or approximate launch date.

i never thought i would say this again, but maybe palm might just pull it off with this one
jvijil, not a chance, the bold cometh
@ Tyler: When?
my vagina is piulsating
@Tyler: The Bold is becoming a joke. I’m sick of waiting for the Bold with no solid release date in sight. There are too many other options that are either being brought to light or being made available that are stealing the attention that the Bold would’ve been given, and this Palm Treo is one of them. That’s a good looking phone right there.
It seems like there has to be some sort of pattern or reason to RIM’s release dates. Anyway I always thought palms were garbage but this one might just make me give them a second look.
@ tyler:
what i meant was that maybe palm finally made a phone worth buying…
I agree this Palm looks pretty nice , its like a grown up version of the Centro, not bad at all. Now men can use a Palm that doesnt make them look…vaginally challenged!
No user of this Treo will look “vaginally challenged”. You’ll be unmistakable as such.
I guess I am confused. If is it WCDMA how would ATT get it? CDMA is Verizon or Sprint, right?
There is literally zero evidence that AT&T is buying this phone.
Vodafone? Yes, for that there is a smidgen of evidence.
touch my vag
If this came to verizon id drop my 800w and get this.
If its 3G bands support US frequencies (specifically, AT&T’s frequencies), _as the specs confirm_ , then either:
1) There will be an Unbranded, Unlocked version available (which can only be used on AT&T in the US), or
2) AT&T is getting this phone.
Get it thru your fuckin’ knuckle head and stop being such a douche about what amounts to black-and-white facts, GauntletDown.
i have said it several times no wifi i dont give a F***
@ KevinĀ®
That comment just made my morning, thanks! Hee hee, “vaginally challenged.”
@ Palm
Palm, you are idiots. This device is looking better than anything you’ve offered in a while but you didn’t want to include the 1700MHz AWS spectrum and decided to leave thousands of “Smart Phone Starved” T-Mobile users out of the fold? I know many a Wing User that would trade up in a heartbeat and they’re too impatient to wait for the Dream. Oh well, you must be doing something right, just look at your quarterly earnings for the last….oh snap…nevermind.
I have one in my hands right now (shhhhhh NDA) and I must say it feels good. haven’t played too much though
^ OH shutUP already, needledick-spamming-sack o’shite! ^
