Live Pics Galore of the Upcoming Nokia N79

We’re not sure exactly what we should be focusing on in this most recent round of live Nokia N79 pics; the handset or the wonderfully artistic backdrop of foliage. Well since we can’t just sit here chatting about leaves and such, we might as well talk about the handset a bit. Shown above in white, the N79 is undoubtedly the most odd Nseries handset we’ve seen in recent history. We keep going back and forth between, “eh, it’s not so bad” and “yeah, it’s bad”. These new images don’t really tell us anything we didn’t already know about the handset, although the great clarity really causes attention to draw toward the rear cover. The pattern on the back kind of looks like a Yankees uniform in desperate need of some ironing. What’s the deal with the sudden angle there fellas? JAMP seems to mirror what we all assumed in stating that the N79 is scheduled for an official announcement next Monday along with another handset, presumably the N85, though we can’t confirm either for the time being.

UPDATE: Thanks to our Chinese-speaking readers, we now know the images above (and the rest on the linked website) are fakes. Damn, these guys are getting good! Let’s hope the actual model does something about those pinstripes on the back cover…

I honestly don’t think it’s bad…the front is a nice, simple, and elegant design that works for those who want subtle fashion.

As for the back, I do think that it does look a little weird–if the angle was more pronounced, I think it would have worked, or even just simple, straight lines.

I think this phone is awesome! I mean, I wonder what that little black dot is on the front of the phone (I imagine it to be a camera for video calling) and I also wonder if it is shaped like a Blackberry Curve in how it fits in the palm of your hand. And since we’re just going off of pictures in this one, I am looking at the little part to the left of the “Call” button on the side and can’t help but wonder if that protrudes out a bit from the side of the phone. If so, is that something that might get caught or bumped on the side of my pants as I remove it from my pocket?

I do think it’s a phone that I can keep in my pocket or case; doesn’t look too bulky at all. I also wonder if it has something to throw a lanyard or charm on, but honestly it’s flashy enough as is and I think charms are mostly for women or even for the younger generation.

Love the flash, I’m thinking it’ll be easy to text with (unless it flies out of your hands when you’re trying to text) and just a neat little phone in general. Me gusta mucho (Spanish for “me-likey much!”).

    Zach,

You may want to have your China contacts check this one out. One of the photo captions is “假冒的诺基亚N79″ which translates to “Fake N79″.

Not sure if the pics are of the real deal or not, but, yea, double check…

Guys…website you linked clearly said it was a high quality fake N79, no need to feel sorry, chinese is difficult…heheee…looks exactly the same, right? It’s actually very common, just wandering around shanghai’s electronics store, u can see n95 selling for 500 CNY (about 50 Eur), the fake phone producer even faked some of the interface, like the camera ui the picture shown, they are mostly based on MTK platform….

and even if it isn’t authentic, Chinese fakes have been known to look very much like the real thing (ie: shoes, watches, cars). Thus, while the phone itself isn’t real, the look of it might be real, you know? not justifying or defending anybody, just throwing that out for when the n79 launches.
