They did. They even labeled it what it is, a free tech preview, with features getting added gradually rather than starting all-at-once as a pay-service that doesn’t get any of the pieces right.

Does anyone really try to give Apple the benefit of the doubt? Does anyone really try to give ANYONE the benefit of the doubt anymore?

No – we just sit and anonymously whine and complain because things don’t work perfectly.

This phone is a year old. It already does way more than the majority of phones from new companies do and it does it quite well. I have many business customers who are more than satisfied with their iPhones they received.

As to the chili’s reference… I don’t know what else you expect Apple to do. People want the service they are paying for, and Apple – well aware it may have more bumps along the way – is offering free time to make up for the troubles. That’s all I’ve ever asked for from a service I’ve had down time from…. is don’t make me pay for that downtime.

Geez people. Grow up and be an adult.

Broken refrain? The way I see it, there are three options: fix the problem immediately (assuming that is possible), offer a free extension to current users, or shut down the whole thing and refund everyone’s money. I’m going to assume that, since Apple generally doesn’t give things away for free, the second option was chosen since they can’t fix the service right away and the service is not so bad as to demand it be shut down. I mean, what other option is there? FYI. . .my father is still waiting for some kind of compensation for his Vista issues, like many other Vista users. I get the feeling that nothing’s coming though, except perhaps a free upgrade to Windows 7. . .in 2010 (which will become 2012 before the thing is released).

Even basic function like making phone call is an issue with iPhone. What kind of phone is this? As for MobileMe, this should be a free service right from beginning. Apple, back to the drawing board.

Seriously? They should just be handing the service out for free and calling it a Beta program at this point..at least say that it’s free until the issues are fixed up..instead they are handing out 30 and 60 day free passes to people, trying to make themselves look like they are doing iPhone users a HUGE favour, when in all reality this “issue” shouldn’t even be an issue…it never should have happened in the first place…rush things to market and this is what happens…I would love to see some information on the “testing” they did for mobileMe before they actually launched it.

One night, a bunch of my friends convinced me to go to Chili’s for the first time. I tried a combination meal. Some of the food was cold, one of the six items was still partially frozen. None of what I sampled was particularly good. When the waiter finally came back, I sent back the food. Later, he returned with the food boxed up to take home, and the manager offered a complimentary coupon for four.

I wasn’t an ass, but I told the manager the food was cold, the service was poor, and the waiter didn’t come back for 45 minutes after we were served (I did try to get him to come back after only 10 minutes but was ignored). So, why would I want to take home the food that I’d already rejected and why would I want to come back? I took the coupon and gave it to one of my friends…

More of the same, Apple? Sounds more like a bad night at Chili’s. And, I own a Family Pack of .Mac nee MobileMe. Salsa & chips, anyone?

Look this whole situation is getting a bit f’ing stupid already.The launch sucked and it never worked right, but yet they say they are working feverishly to fiz the problem. The first round of extensions go out and then there are more outages. Another extension goes out to try and appease the public but in reality what is that really going to do? Now they come out again and offer more free time….I am starting to think they would have just been better off offering the service free from the start for a few months and then let people pay. Between this mobile me crap and the 3G reception issues of the iPhone 3G it is really start to get me pissed. Two updates and no fixes that address a real issue that is impacting a decent number of users. If you pair that with mobile me then you really have some pissed off consumers from that faithful morning of July 11th, 2008. The BB Bold is looking that much more appealing now

Well do the immense spam my me.com email gets I can’t say I use the service that much except for syncing favorites. So really its free 90 days just for me showing up. I can live with that.
