Samsung’s Sexy T919 Coming to T-Mobile

Hello T-Mo! Word on the street is that T-Mobile US users have a treat coming their way via Samsung. Call it T919, Tocco, Roxy or whatever else you want; Samsung’s feature-rich touchscreen will be a fantastic grab for any T-Mobile users as long as they can do without a smart OS. What’s more? This bad boy will supposedly come packing the coveted 1700 MHz WCDMA band. A quick look at some more spec highlights:

  • 5 megapixel camera
  • Front-facing secondary camera
  • GPS WITH voice command
  • Streaming video support
  • Video ringtone support
  • Capacitive touchscreen
  • MicroSDHC support
  • Brushed aluminum back
  • Consumer email functionality

There are also rumors of WiFi being included as well but absolutely nothing to substantiate that claim at this point. No word yet on pricing or an official announcement but expect this puppy to be snatched up pretty quickly once it is released.

UPDATE: While it might look like there is a front-facing camera above the light sensor, we’re getting word from TmoNews that it most likely isn’t. Video-callers will have to keep their fingers crossed.

Since Samsung is a partner of the Open Handset Alliance, let’s hope that they’re working on tis exact same phone with the Android platform on it. This could definitely compete with the 3G iPhone if it had a VGA/WGVA screen with a hardware accelerated graphics chip to boot. High-speed, good camera, GPS, It’d be darn near perfect. 3.5mm port? USB charging? Inquiring minds want to know!

See, this is cool! T-Mobile finally starts releasing some cooler phones now that they’re catching up with 3G while everybody else is starting up 4G. Actually, I wonder what happened to the Samsung t849… Wonder if this is the thing that is replacing it.

It will sell well, but I probably won’t use it. Samsung leaves no room for third party apps. I expect JAVA and thats it, which sucks. I’ll pass until something S60 comes along.

OMG finally T-Mobile is catching up with cooler phones…only cool phones were the sidekick (which I have but am seriously getting tired of) the blackberry or the wing (which sucks). I really liked the iPhone but absolutely HATE AT&T and their plans. I did more research on this phone and T-Mobile UK actually already has it but its called Samsung F480 you can see demo videos of the phone on youtube….lovely phone…I’ll be the first in line when it comes out!!

well, too bad it’s pretty much a toned down Omnia…oh, and it’s going to be used on T-Mobile’s network…but, in an effort to give props where props are due, this is a sweet phone and T-Mobile is makin up some lost ground with the recent improvements in regards to 3G, so my hats off…

i got to hold this back in august. its not a front facing camera unfortunatly. It looks amazing but unfortunatly is ridiculously light like my lg prada was. But alas it has two keyboards the typical abc and a really nice qwerty. i did really like the interface. a definite must for someone who wants a touchscreen without a bulky keyboard(android)

Its nice to see Tmo got their 3G head out of their asses. No more 3G flip phones! Lets get moving – though, I hope the trend it NOT to exclude wifi now that they are setting up the family with 3G. That would be sad – I also hope this and their other newly christened 3G/wifi phones use @home and UMA to thicken the GIMME pot. (I hope the G1 eventually gets UMA as well).
Hopefully, BGR gets a video review up soon as well :)

I was told last by a T-Mobile rep that this phone’ll be out on 11/11. He told me about this phone cos when he asked why I wanted to know when my contract expired, I told him I’m jumpin’ ship for Verizon as soon as the BlackBerry Storm comes out. This phone sounds like nothing new. Just new for T-Mobile. Why’s the Pink T so technologically retarded!? The video calling feature sounds cool, but I wouldn’t get a phone just for that.
