Samsung’s Sexy T919 Coming to T-Mobile
Hello T-Mo! Word on the street is that T-Mobile US users have a treat coming their way via Samsung. Call it T919, Tocco, Roxy or whatever else you want; Samsung’s feature-rich touchscreen will be a fantastic grab for any T-Mobile users as long as they can do without a smart OS. What’s more? This bad boy will supposedly come packing the coveted 1700 MHz WCDMA band. A quick look at some more spec highlights:
- 5 megapixel camera
- Front-facing secondary camera
- GPS WITH voice command
- Streaming video support
- Video ringtone support
- Capacitive touchscreen
- MicroSDHC support
- Brushed aluminum back
- Consumer email functionality
There are also rumors of WiFi being included as well but absolutely nothing to substantiate that claim at this point. No word yet on pricing or an official announcement but expect this puppy to be snatched up pretty quickly once it is released.
UPDATE: While it might look like there is a front-facing camera above the light sensor, we’re getting word from TmoNews that it most likely isn’t. Video-callers will have to keep their fingers crossed.

Does this mean T-Mo is moving to CDMA with the addition of the 1700 band?

I was just over at Engadget and everyone is tearing this phone apart. I don’t understand why because I see this being a huge seller for Tmobile.

nice phone, too bad the catch is that it’s going to a horrible carrier

most people are tearing this phone a new usb port mainly because they want t-mob to pick up the omnia instead… but what people fail to understand is this is t-mobile we’re talking about. they are the pickiest cell phone company in america and they probably didnt even want to give the f480 the time of day. people should be happy t-mob is making effort to become more advanced

This doesn’t have Windows mobile so I’d consider

Well people are gonna eat this and the g1 up. I think tmo’s gonna be growing

T-Mobile will be using the AWS 1700MHz for their 3G network. MetroPCS will be using the same spectrum band, but they are using it for WCDMA, instead of how t-Mobile is using it with their GSM-based network.

my girlfriend is sure to like this phone, but she also likes the javelin

Too good news for Tmo this week. Glad I stuck by you and didn’t jump ship for that 3G iPhone. Had a feeling you’d catch up and it would only cost me an arm, instead of an arm and leg like ATT.

WCDMA is GSM. All 3G GSM is WCDMA.

I’m starting to feel very glad I hung around with T-Mob. I won’t be getting this phone, but I am more than excited for all the good news as of late. 3G is almost here (and been here in NYC), the Android platform is almost here, Sony Ericsson is back, another Samsung in January w/ 8MP camera. It’s good to see T-Mobile finally taking a new direction, or at least running parallel to it’s existing “customer friendly” business model.
