Don’t drop your BlackBerry Bold…

In tears. Was unloading my car, opening the trunk with the Bold in the same hand as the one I was opening the trunk with. Then “BAM.” It fell out of my hand about two feet onto pavement. My life flashed before my eyes. I quickly went to rescue the Bold. This is what the damage was. Heading to CNN.cn to buy new parts. Hate my life. Hate the Bold build materials even more. Word of advice from your friend BGizzle? Buy a condom skin for the Bold. As big and ugly as it makes the device, you’ll appreciate it in the end. Unless you have a stockpile of five Bolds like we do, then you can just pop open a new box and you’re good to go. Hit the gallery if you want to see the beating that the Bold took…

I love the half-hearted attempts to bring the iPhone into this discussion. . . what did you people talk compare RIM eggshells to before the iPhone? Good to know that other RIM products stand up to multiple drops, though I’m not sure how much if an idiot you have to be to drop a phone multiple times. I’m guessing some of you are already acutely aware of the amount of “idiocy” required.

Sorry BGR, but I read on another site that Sept isn’t even confirmed yet. The only thing they know for certain is that it will be launched by November.

That being said, I am gonna be willing to bet my left nut September is out of the question.

Did they fix the Battery Craps out right away syndrome? Also what did you expect, theyve created a hype for this phone so bad that all the Junkies selling Crack and Cocain are talking about “Salvation” giving up the Cocaine and Crack and trading it in to do the Bold.
Its (Bold) Habit Forming but it wont kill you- If you pass gas on the display, does it meann the screen will crack?

Nokia All the way. There have been countless number of times I have dropped my Nokia 3650 (yeah a old phone) like that and from my pocket and from the table top. Dropped it even while driving it dropped off, got lots scratches it but STILL works good. Never yet broken.

I really appreciate the Nokia Quality as against all other handsets. It does not matter if you get a cheap Nokia or an Expensive Nokia. It stands Strong against all others, be it Sony Erricson or be it LG, Samsung, any others. Nothing comes close to Nokia in terms of sturdiness and reliability.

PS: No intention of starting flame wars.

    BG, Almost forgot,

You should try throwing / replicating the same situation with Nokia E71 and update the comparative review that you had recently on durability/sturdiness aspects of both phones. Then Let’s See who’s the daddy ;-)

Do you have any idea when HTC touch pro is coming out on AT&T?

Sorry for being off the topic, but I really need to replace my phone. I am thinking about either blackberry bold or AT&T Fuze, tilt 2, or w/e is going to be called.

I feel your pain to BGR. But I have had damage to my curve in areas where the condom was on. I guess they are just like real condoms 98% effective. lol

My Sympathies BGR.. Never feels good to have a loving toy damaged.. :(

Having serious thoughts about the Bold now.

This is going to surprise many, but I’ve been extremely happy with my Q9h. I’ve dropped it a couple of times, but a scratch here and there and it is going strong. Maybe the E71 is my next phone.. Too bad..

Man BG, I feel for you… That must have sucked to see how poorly built the famed Blackberry Bold was. The funny part is, I’m still getting one. I baby all my phones so I’m not worried about cosmetic damage because I don’t drop my phones. And anyone stupid enough to think that you get all your phones for free (Jerry Marcus…) obviously doesn’t know what he is talking about and knows absolutely nothing about the relationship between bloggers and manufacturers. And he questioned how long your money was…? Oh no, I know he didn’t do that… Get em BG, Oh my bad, you GOT EM…!

    BG,

It’s so easy for ppl to say, “Be more careful and don’t drop your phone(s).” Nobody plans to drop them. Sometimes it just happens no matter how careful we are.

Anyway, at least it still works.

man, gone are the days of indestructible Blackberries. I would say it’s been downhill build wise since the 87xx series. It’s the price to pay for portability, thinness and light.
Those ‘film’ protective decals are also a good way to look after your stuff.
