Don’t drop your BlackBerry Bold…
In tears. Was unloading my car, opening the trunk with the Bold in the same hand as the one I was opening the trunk with. Then “BAM.” It fell out of my hand about two feet onto pavement. My life flashed before my eyes. I quickly went to rescue the Bold. This is what the damage was. Heading to CNN.cn to buy new parts. Hate my life. Hate the Bold build materials even more. Word of advice from your friend BGizzle? Buy a condom skin for the Bold. As big and ugly as it makes the device, you’ll appreciate it in the end. Unless you have a stockpile of five Bolds like we do, then you can just pop open a new box and you’re good to go. Hit the gallery if you want to see the beating that the Bold took…

Hey BGR how does Cnn.cn have the bottom covers branded by: Tmobile, Orange, Telcell, Turkcell, does that all mean they will be getting them?
Oh man! It hurts just to see these pictures!
Damn-
At least you didn’t leave it on the roof of the car and drive away. That could have been alot worse than it is. Want to hook me up with a Bold??:)
That Bold is nice lookin’ (well not yours BG), and I hate bb’s.
Has anyone put a bold thru some type of destruction test? Would be interesting to see how it holds up. My good old 8700 brick has been dropped atleast ten times super hard. Still looks like a champ.
Yes, that really sucks (but you have extras! man!)… a worse example might be a friend who dropped her iPhone in the street – half the face is smooth and the other half looks like the glass carving of a bird’s wing… hope this makes you feel better, BGR
@BG, Did the coverage get better once the trim craked?
So it sounds like Bold is suffering problems like iPhone has with handoff? Well, at least RIM is fixing them, rather than foisting a f-ed up device on unsuspecting lemmings.
That sucks! At least the damage was confined to the…er…RIM…
I guess I’ll have to buy a skin for mine when it comes out.
@Alex
Are you retarded? Have you ever dropped a piece of paper on the floor and it immediately got scratched, or worse, unless it was stepped upon or so on? People like you should be banned from the interwebs, I hate knowing that I will always meet dumbass people like you in person AND online.
Oh yeah…BG…hurts to see this but, a condom definitely helps a lot. I’ve had 4 8700’s and 5 Curves, all have been good (even with drops) but I no longer risk it with my latest Curve.
I still can’t wait for the Bold! Cheers!
Since you have some spares. Giveaway! Ha and http://www.horizonwirelessonline.com is going to have unbranded antenna covers for bold
BG…Sure you didn’t throw it, thinking it was the iPhone?
This is why I’m getting a JAVELIN. Sorry bout the bad luck BG.
lol@you.
Sooo… The Javelin is pocketable… the bold is only for a holster? to big…hmmm
Wow. Phone drops on concrete, gets dinged. Amazing news! Didn’t you mother teach you to be careful with your toys?
My 8700 broke when I dropped it 2ft on a carpeted floor. From that day forth, I’ve been careful, and my current curve is going strong and undamaged.
If there is anything remotely newsworthy about your story, it’s that your Bold is still working after a drop on a concrete floor. That’s a testament IN FAVOR of build quality (My 8700 couldn’t handle that).
I’m sure Blackberry can built a robust Bold that can withstand your carelessness. It’s going to way more than 200g, and the reception is going to suck in the Faraday cage like body. Which would you buy?
“AT&T release still looks like September…nothing changed yet. ”
Highly improbable. Don’t expect it before late October, even early November on the blue globe.
I will stick with my Curve its a trooper it’s 3G it’s also perfect form factor unlike the bold and its huge ghetto booty
I heard this is the same process you have to take to get 3G to work on the iPhone. Shwing!
BGR didn’t wear the rubber skin for BOLD. RIM did sent the packages included the rubber skin to testers.
Ha! I knew it! the Bold is just garbage. I know you gave the edge to the E71 in build quality, and said the Bold was the overall better device. I think youre wrong….most people arent going to care too much about corporate email, but they do care about the look of their phone…..why should I pay up the ying yang (399 with a 3 yrs Rogers contract) for something that breaks on a 2 feet fall? Hows your E71 holding up BTW?
Now that’s what you call a crackberry. Lol ouch
i got a few dings on the sides ofmy 8800 it’s been dropped on cocrete asphalt gravand rocks
th 8700 an the 7100 wer build like tanks too.
I awar the ever since the curve th build quality on their devices seems to be ging south the real question is will it blend?
You dropped your Blackberry, what did you expect. Don’t drop cell phones and things like this wont happen….
