Don’t drop your BlackBerry Bold…
In tears. Was unloading my car, opening the trunk with the Bold in the same hand as the one I was opening the trunk with. Then “BAM.” It fell out of my hand about two feet onto pavement. My life flashed before my eyes. I quickly went to rescue the Bold. This is what the damage was. Heading to CNN.cn to buy new parts. Hate my life. Hate the Bold build materials even more. Word of advice from your friend BGizzle? Buy a condom skin for the Bold. As big and ugly as it makes the device, you’ll appreciate it in the end. Unless you have a stockpile of five Bolds like we do, then you can just pop open a new box and you’re good to go. Hit the gallery if you want to see the beating that the Bold took…

What the hell are you crying for? You got that for free. Many of your devices you get for free just beacuse you hype your bullshit so well. Grow UP!

I’ve dropped my T-Mo Dash more than a couple of times and at least once from more than 2 feet and it barely has a scratch on it. Is the Bold made out of paper?

@Jerry
First off, I think it’s funny you comment on what we pay for, and what we get for free. Any review device that we get, we send back. Everything else comes out of our pockets. Second of all, money isn’t an issue baby — it’s just disheartening to see that happen to a device like the Bold, where we all assumed the build quality and build materials were top notch. Go back to your cave before I ban you.

Who comments just to be a donkey? OHHH, Jerry Marcus does.
Sorry to see your Bold go through an unfortunate event. First time I dropped my Curve I nearly died. And Jerry, I paid for my bold so hands off.

I’v dropped the numerous blackberries I’ve had over the years dozens of times - it seems like 90% of the time a drop a BB 3 or less feet is OK - but that 10% you are going to hit that magic strees point and crack the darn things. Beter luck next time.

@Jerry: Damn, you just got F%#$D up!

Ouch…we all know how that feels and it’s no fun…
Good thing you gave the edge to the E71 for build quality.

My sincere condolences, BG.

By the way, when can I buy one from AT&T , BG?

This is unfortunate… I have dropped my Pearl many times, and it barely has a couple of scratches.
I’ll have to be careful with my bold, if I EVER get one! Jeez.

That sucks BG! Jerry, you got knocked the f out…
So…are you still thinking September on AT&T? I saw your post about the releases a few days back, Sept on most carriers, but some sooner. I was thinking the big dogs at AT&T would hook us up before summer ends…

BG: At least it’s just cosmetic and you can replace the damaged parts.
P.S. Thanks for the tip on the site to go to get parts!

man, I have had that happen way too many times to me with countless phones. And I always wind up replaying the “drop” in my mind and thinking “what if”….but it never helps.
Seriously BG, any real word in Bold NAM availability? Throw us a bone.
Happy Sunday.

Thanks, guys! AT&T release still looks like September…nothing changed yet. They still have issues with the radio code in terms of 2G and 3G hand-offs and switch overs. Even the latest Bold build gives me “Searching for network…” messages daily. And yes, purely cosmetic. Just didn’t think the Bold would go down like a sucka!

Damn, I’m sorry but this just made me 100% sure the Bold is not for me. I’ve waited for this thing long enough, and if it can’t take a 2 foot drop (24 inches!??!!!!) then WTF. I’ve dropped a Curve 2 stories (by accident while walking up a stair case) without a condom on, directly onto concrete and there were a few scratches and a “could not start camera” error. I’d have to say the thing I miss most about my Curve is knowing it was a soldier. My 3G is a freakin fairy compared to the rigidity of my Curve. I Never expected this from the Bold. Thanks for the FYI BG
PS, Jesus Christos that leather shit on the back is so tacky..

I WILL STILL TRADE IT WITH YOU FOR MY E62.
on a lighter note
I have a few rubber skins for the bold, if you send me a prepaid envelope i will ship you one. I hate seeing a grown man cry

@Jeeverz
Man, I have three skins for it! Black, white, and blue. It’s just that the Bold is as wide as Jennifer Lopez’s ass without the skin on. Adding it brings it to a whole new level.

Man, I wish I could post pictures of what happened to my friend’s Tilt, even though it doesn’t look like much, what it went through to get that was basically phone hell.

The same thing happened to me a week after I bought my first Pearl. Not only are the materials of a BlackBerry cheap, but the suckers are the slickest little phones around. The things are just dying to jump out of your hand.
