BlackBerry Bold Gets a Hefty Price Tag on Rogers
Ouch. Our friends north of the boarder just got a bit of a rude awakening as the Bold received pricing for the Rogers network. How does $400 CAD sound? That’s right folks, according to the leaked flyer pictured above Canadian BlackBerry fans on Rogers will be paying through the teeth. Let’s see, with the declining US dollar that works out to about… carry the three, multiply by… $6,482 USD. Ok, those calculations might be a bit high but $400 CAD is still a far cry from competitive with the iPhone 3G as Rogers customers were hoping. That hefty price tag will also come with a three-year contract and, though this hasn’t been confirmed yet, your soul.

Blame ther carrier not the manufacturer

curve $199, bold $399…. hmmm, other than the nicer screen, and wi-fi, I don’t see where that $200 difference is. Besides, since it’s 3G who needs wi-fi? And if the browser still sucks, who needs a better screen?
In other words, stick with the curve.

Why are we complaining about the 399.99 price of the Bold..afterall the 8820 is currently 349.99 on a three year..50 bucks more gets me high res screen, 3g and wifi..
I honestly thought it wouldn’t be more than 299.99, I guess we won’t know for sure until we get it confirmed.

Bs. I rather get a PS3 and hold on to the curve until the prices come way down.

Well, their Curve price is 2 to 4 times what Curve’s are going for in USA.

Wow, Rogers can bite me.
Did we really expect anything less through Rogers, though? Seriously? It’s amazing how they keep on bending us Canadians over with their outrageous pricing and voice/data plans. When is this going to stop? I thought “maybe” with this phone we’ll see some reasonable pricing. I guess not, and I’m doubting so with the next touch screen model. Disappointing again, Rogers! They will not let up until there is some pressure from another GSM carrier.
And regarding the 3-year plans…. when was the last time you had (or wanted!) a cell phone, especially a blackberry that is used heavily in most cases, that actually LASTED 3 years? These contracts are an absolute joke. It’s a trick to make you resign for another 3 years with new hardware, but only after 2 years or less into them.

yeah but would with a three year contract that charges you at a minimum of 65$ per month realistically 95$ for a decent plan

When the Curve first came out on AT&T, they wanted $299 with two year contract and $499 without. I waited for the rush to be over and got it for $199. Two year contract.
