Hey darelld! if you on a plane…all u really need is mac safe plane adapter. It doesn’t charge your battery but it won’t be using it either! as for the dvd thing….lol!!! you soooooo rite on that!!!! the best solution for me was to attach my ipod! and just in case you don’t have a dvd reaper. Look for an app called handbrake! if you see a person watching a movie that you don’t have then i suggest to use the persons drive to ripp the movie and then watch it while relaxing on the plane! Hey! you need to find a good usage to the air! :p

well from what i read the air can use any usb optical drive it dosent have to be apple branded, and there are ways to do things with USB flash drives, when dvd r-w died i had to re install Ubuntu via my USB port, all i had to do was copy the ISO to the usb drive and make it bootable, for the dark lord of the decepticons you sure are not very bright.

I thought the beauty of USB is that you can buy USB hubs and continue to expand. Doesn’t a USB port hold up to like 60some USB items on one port?

So spend that 10 bucks and buy that USB hub and hook up USB products to your hearts delight.

thank you but I do get totally what the Air is about. Maybe what YOU don’t get is that not everyone needs the same thing out of their computer. I am so happy you can put the Air in the airline pocket in front of you “and the smooth eges (sic) slide down. I could care less. How much work are you getting done with the Air in the seatback pocket?

I could use a second USB port – but maybe you just don’t “get” why that could be useful.

But thank you for your condescending tone. It will serve as reminder to me today of how not to post on forums.

The Air is great I have it. You don’t need two USB’s If you must have two USB, you don’t get what the Air is about. If you don’t get it you just don’t get it. It is about being able to put it in the airline pocket infront of you – the smooth eges slide down. It is about feeling like you don’t have anything while going thru and airport. GET VM fusion run windows Network it wireless and use the hard drive from another machine as a network path. You don’t do access programming on this nor DVD burning.

the air is cool, id use it for school but not for heavy computing or anything like that hopefully the original air’s price will go down. cause i want one still i have never tried a mac before.

Well the Mac book Air, isn’t marketed for normal computer users, it has an even more niche market, then other Apple products.
All though I like Apple products, I would never buy a Macbook Air. I have been waiting for years for an Apple Table.
The kinda of work I do, sometimes calls for me to draw up network call flows, and other things, before I go into Visio with my thoughts.
I have an old Toshiba Tablet, and a Mac powerbook G4, I would love nothing more then to marge both laptops together.
I would like to boot into Leopard do my thing, then boot into XP, or Vista and get my “Microsoft on, ” for when I need to use windows all this on one box in which both OS’s allow me to draw Penis pictures on the screen(Superbad)… lol
I know their is a 3rd party solution for this, but I’m not trying to spend Macbook Pro money for a Macbook, ya feel me…

Just to add on to Pom’s post.

Whats wrong with people, owning and liking Apple products.
I got an ipod back in 05, a couple of mac laptops this year, and last year.
Now I find I get into “situations,” were I have to defend apple, or why I buy apple products sometimes by poeple who own a apple product or two them self’s (most likely an Ipod).

Everyone seems to be ok if you got some HP 6507xyz model (code 101) with Windows Vista home basic loaded on it (that take 15 minutes to boot up), with a Zune, and Xbox 360 (which you replaced 80 times because of RROD) , and a Some HTC 6905 “the slade” with Windows Mobile 6.1 professional edition (so I’m not a professional if I’m just using Windows Mobile Standard ohh I almost forgot the 6.1 part)

But, if you got an Iphone, and maybe a black macbook or something, now your on Steve job’s balls.
But no one has anything bad to say if your all Microsoft’ed out.
No all on Bill Gates pole, No Steve balmer ball licker…
Bill Gates is a man (for one I don’t dislike), that was once the riches man in the world off of saling poor products.

Now granted Microsoft got a alot of bad press off Vista, which isn’t going to change the game much, because people are going to still buy their HP’s, Dell’s, and IBM’s with Vista pre-loaded on it and we are all going to be in Vista land, if you like it or not.
But what I’m getting at is people defended Microsoft saying things like well Microsoft supports a wide range of hardware, and they have no control over drivers, and etc… To me their should be no excuses for a company that has a 200b dollar purse, and for me to buy an brand new HP that takes a million years to boot up, and all my hardware not work right out the box (this is back in 07). I understand nothing man made is perfect, but sh*t with 200 billion dollars at your finger tips, Vista should have been released so sound you would have thought aliens coded it.
But don’t let Apple make a misstake, noooo…
This is still a rather large company, but much smaller then Microsoft.
Well I’m get off my soap box.
I just wish people would put the Windows Vista box down in Bestbuy, turn around and tell Microsoft No. I would like poeple to think before they by something ask them self’s what uses I’m I going to get out of this XYZ product, and try to choose another company over Microsoft (doesn’t have to be Apple).
I’m been trying to go down this same road since early last year. Sometimes I may pay a little more, or lose a few things that may have been in a Microsoft product, but I’m just doing my part to try and rid the world of Microsoft, we need a change people…

I could easily go back through and find quite a few other posts that don’t have much to do with phones…

but you, wanting to get your chance to type the word “fanboy” decide to rip on them for this one post???

America has turned into a bunch of complainers, and the internet with its anonymity now allows us to do that without anyone knowing who we are. The internet now has it’s own social mores, and they are quite scary. Especially as they filter into the real world.

I wonder if you would walk into BGR’s offices and when they welcome you guys and ask how they can help you – would you use that same tone and same terminology?

Why would it go through an external design? Because many of us want to see it have an optical drive and replaceable battery like other notebooks with similar weights have. I would love to own one, but refuse to purchase an Air until it has an internal optical drive because I’d like to watch a movie on a plane without having to ask the person next to me to slip my DVD into his or her notebook so I can watch a movie (… and attaching a USB drive defeats the purpose of the Air’s compact design) and I like having a backup battery. ** SIDE NOTE ** This battery complaint carries over to the iPhone as well, which I refuse to buy until it has a replaceable battery (and haptic keyboard feedback).
