Sprint’s ‘08-’09 roadmap: BlackBerry 8350i, Motorola i576, Motorola i950, and a lot more!

What would the world do without BGR? Well, you’d probably have a lot less broken AVAYA phones, less screaming, and just all around happier wireless executives. Oh well. We just got our hands on Sprint’s ‘08-’09 roadmap, and there are definitely some goodies in here if you are a current Sprint subscriber. First up is the BlackBerry 8350i. That’s right Nextel-lovers, you’ve got a new phone to play with coming soon! Contrary to other online images of the device, it appears this BlackBerry does not have the hideous external antenna. The BlackBerry 8350i will have Wi-Fi, a 2 megapixel camera, GPS, and run OS 4.6 out of the box! Look for a Q4 release on that bad boy. For the rest of the goods including more lack-luster phones than you can count, hit the jump folks!

As you can see, the BlackBerry 8350i is based on the Curve (obviously), but you’ve got to love that internal antenna now. Wi-Fi and GPS make this the dream Berry for Nextel users. Also, you’ll be able to grab a camera-less version of the 8350i so you can play nice in restricted areas. Holla!

Let’s break down the roadmap a bit:
- The first that looks to be coming out is the Motorola i950
- Launching in early Q4, there’s the Motorola i576 and the Motorola i776
- In mid-to-late Q4 there’s the BlackBerry 8350i
- Coming up around Jan-Feb, we’ve got the Motorola “Monolith” which is some sort of entry-level SureType-type device, what looks to be a Motorola V8-type phone, and a Sanyo iDEN/GSM handset
- Later on in Q2, there’s a Samsung music slider phone, a military-spec “Immersion” phone by Motorola, and the Sanyo Pro410.
Here are the super-large handset images, followed by a couple more slides…

Too bad Nextel ain’t worth shit any more!
When they bring back the 10,000 min. for $59.99 per month plan again, maybe i’ll Consider it.
Some awesome set of phones there! Thanks for sharing this
can you guy upload a big picture of the “Sprint’s ‘08-’09 roadmap” so we can stop killing our computer screens and put our magnifying glass to rest.
I want to see what’s to those Sanyos and any other CDMA handsets with DC
All the Nextel 10,000 or Nextel National 1000 consisted of was 1000 DT mins, 4000 NW mins & 5000 Local NDC mins with your nights starting at 9PM (the NW mins & NDC mins maybe vice versa but I can’t remember). The nights & direct connect went to unlimited with the National 1000 launch. The plan then became the Power Pack 900 with nights starting at 7PM with Nationwide Direct Connect. So, the plan has never left (improved in my eyes). Just the name. Call it what you want but I will call it a Talk/Message 900 because I text or a Everything 900 because I need my Navi & NFL network. Just my words, you decide your feelings. Be Safe.
Ya know, it’s really too bad we can’t get anything like these phones for the other two carriers…
If that hybrid Sanyo would take an AT&T SIM, I’d get on board for both services…
What, no mention of the Touch Diamond or the Touch Pro?
I thought we knew those phones were coming.
The Nextel “chirp” is so annoying! Talk about something that is over now!
This is the Direct Connect commitment roadmap that was sent out to customers not some super secret internal document.
Maybe if they had come out with some decent phones for the iden side two years ago they wouldn’t be writing off the $36 billion they paid for Nextel.
But give Hesse credit – at least he is trying.
Wait a sec…so this curve version has a camera, wifi, AND GPS..wtf
This new Curve could have had so much potential if it were a hybrid. I just can’t deal with how slow data is on the iDen network.
WTF!!! that blackberry is sick why no pic of the i950?
Woah! Woah!! Woah!!! The Blackberry Curve they’re getting is the fabled “Papa Bear” that we’ve been told is not do-able! WiFi, GPS, and a camera, all in one Curve. They couldn’t give us this in a GSM flavor a couple of years ago?! WTF RIM?
agreed. i was waiting to read this and see a release date of the diamond and pro…any idea why they are not listed?
I wonder if the Blackberry 8350i will just have iDEN and WiFi for data or will it also support Sprint’s CDMA 1xRTT/EVDO network for data?
BGR BLOW UP THE ROADMAP SO WE CAN SEE
Oh, good… they’re taking the antenna off. So my odds of getting brain cancer go up. How… nice.
And it’s still iDen, too.
Even nicer.
Morons.
I am a Nextel subscruber waiting to jump ship to ATT for the Bold.
If Nextel had voice plans that allowed unlimited M2M minutes instead of just unlimited push to talk minutes, I might have stayed. My wife and I used the walkie talkies at first, but then realized public conversations wasn’t the way to go. No unlimited mobile to mobile minutes? Are you kidding me?
Later Nextel!
wll of course its not going to show the pro and the diamond this roadmap is for nextel phones.
er…Ahem… if you look at all of Sprint Nextel’s current single and multi-line plans, they do all include unlimited mobile to mobile for both sprint and nextel phones….
As of a month ago, just about all Sprint/Nextel voice plans include unlimited PTT & M2M. Just call in and ask them to update your rate plan. They don’t extend contracts on rate changes anymore either.
it the i850 based off of iden or is it iden and cdma
@ Huskyfan
They do have unlimited m2m plans. I have one; they are advertised on the web site. Clip from web site below.
Sprint Business Essentials
This plan includes

Huskyfan, I’m not sure if you’re asking for unlimited direct connect mobile to mobile or just for mobile to mobile.
