Live video of HTC’s “Dream” Android phone?
Yeah, it’s not the highest quality video we’ve ever seen, but if you can look past the blurriness and Darth Vader breathing noises you might be pleasantly surprised. Thanks to an eagle-eyed tipster, we’ve some video footage of what might be the HTC Dream. The world’s first Android handset is in fine form here, sporting a slide out QWERTY keyboard in addition to some touchscreen goodness. The Android interface appears to be tweaked a bit from the last time we saw it, with an auto-rotating display and what appears to be a relatively responsive touchscreen. The phone looks good with the keyboard hidden, but when the panel slides out it reveals a Sidekick-esque design that might inspire more than its share of hatred. Then again, this could be some sick jerk playing games with an eager public. What do you think? Is this legit or a sorry excuse for a joke?
Thanks, Nina!

The breathing is a sure-fire way to identify the person who leaked the video!

I dunno but they need to get a cell phone with a better cam in it if they want to post sneaky vids online.

@Gauntlet: The breathing is from yet another 350lb 20-year-old kid who won’t live past 45. Such is the state of affairs with the tech rank-and-file.

Not so sure about the color, but would someone please release a phone with this! I’m holding off on my upgrade for this or the Bold. It seems like neither will ever actually exist.

Whats with the “Rasputia” breathing? I’m siding with “Gauntlet”.
This think looks like a Sidekick Slide on steroids, LX edition. I dunno…

I’m very disappointed if this is the real deal.

Personally I thought the video is very poor. The person who posted this should learn to work a video camera first and focus. Make sure you watch the video before posting. With all the hype over the net, I will believe it when I see it. There have been too many times rumors are posted then the product is delayed.

Looks OK. The keyboard looked a little to SideKick-like though.

I hate god-damn mouth breathers. And while I’m feeling aggravated - I also harbor a strong distaste for videos of touch screens where there are 3 or four mis-touches to get something simple to happen. Doesn’t bode well for the device, or the user.
I’m with everyone else who hopes this isn’t the “Dream”.

This jives with the form factor/specs from the htc site:
The device itself, which measures about 3 x 5-inches, sports a touchscreen, navigational controls at the base, and a full swivel out keyboard.

It looks like a reference design. Either way, I don’t think a phone should be THAT big. There are smaller devices that run Vista.

I am so underwhelmed I have to take a dump.

It’s…it’s…it’s…oh my god!!! It’s most likely some new sidekick!!!
There’s no way in hell this thing is an Android phone.

what I noticed is the slow response from the touch screen, reminds me of MDA and Wing. So not interested

Looks real for sure. The nice thing is the sliding qwerty keyboard. This will give iphone a run for its money.
