iPhone 2.0.1 software released

We’re downloading it now, but woweee, it’s 250MB! Anyone care to comment? Even with all the languages included the biggest build we’ve ever seen was around 210MB…
Post will be updated
Ok, so far we’ve found 2.0.1 to be extremely more stable. This includes fixing the keyboard lag some users experienced, a speedier OS in general, and it seems to have fixed the god-awful contacts lag. Also we should note that applications install probably 10x faster now through iTunes. We’ve heard reports of a speedier backup as well. Good things all around. Just no copy and paste. Sad.

updating now also… lets see how this goes…

Is there any chances of copy and paste in this build?

When you click on the “click here to see what this update contains” link it just takes you to a page about security fixes. If I downloaded 210MB worth of bug fixes and there isn’t a single stability improvement I’m going to be pissed.

I just downloaded and installed 2.0.1 (5B108). From a very quick glance, doesn’t seem to be different than 2.0. Safari seemed faster.

This is stupid, I can’t jailbreak anymore. It did however fix SOME annoying bugs out there

Quick question BGR…whatever happened to the beta test of the BHR iphone app? Did you choose the 80 beta tester spots already?
Thanks
And to be relevant…I’m downloading now also. Hopefully this fixes the keyboard lag.

Safari seems to be a bit faster when it comes to loading webpages Camera loads noticeably faster than it did on 2.0 Phone app (for calling) loads faster and doesn’t freez like it has before Location service less annoying for a fact. I JUST used maps.
Overall, I can say that my 1st gen iPhone has become snappier than it was on 2.0

Thanks, J. You made my evening. Going home to update.

Cool thanks Jose. Mine just finished updating and I’m definitely seeing the performance improvements (maps is much snappier getting a cell assisted lock). Hopefully this isn’t just a side effect of the reboot that occurs during the update process.

The contacts searching is much faster. Until today it would take 10 seconds before I could search. Now just 1 second. Unfortunately, still long syncing time. Mine takes 40 minutes to sync still.

I have jail broken iphone that I used pwnage …. what I was wondering if I do this update will I have to unlock the phone again?

still takes time to unlatch 3g to edge .. Dropping calls still .. Proximity sensor still buggy ..address book faster .. Web faster… Let’s see battery life & keyboard input …

at first blush this feels much closer to the 1.1.4 experience on the 1st gen iPhone, but I have since up’ed to the 3G. 2.0 felt nasty by comparison. 2.0.1 makes this feel like an iPhone again. Solid improvement.

If you right click the iphone in iTunes and click reset warnings, uncheck the sync every time box and sync again, then when the box pops up, click do not send to apple, it will only take a minute or two to sync every time.
