HTC still planning to get first Android phone out by the end of this year
Android has had its share of hiccups and roadblocks, and it’s been so long since the platform was announced that we’ve begun to wonder if it will ever see the light of day. One of the biggest names in the Open Handset Alliance is HTC, who has long been planning to get an Android-based handset out of the door by the end of 2008. Thankfully, despite numerous delays and setbacks for both Google and HTC, they’re claiming that they’re still on track to release an Android phone by the end of Q4 of this year. As no other manufacturers seem to be stepping up, this could well be te first Android handset on the market, period. While we’re not sure if this will be the HTC Dream super-phone, we’re still confident that the Taiwanese manufacturer will have some nice tricks up their sleeves for this landmark release.
cool…but any recent news on touch pro and verizon? its killing me to wait for this phone.

The mock up design looks really interesting, nice work. I just wish phones that weren’t long enough to span the gap from your ear to your mouth had an extendable boom so that noise cancellation were more successful. SOMEONE!? ANYONE?

I held one of these the other day. A passenger came thru the airport with a device I’ve never seen before; he let me handle it and was quite proud to demonstrate the features. The buttons were a bit different (he said that a newer model was due by now), but I liked the way the keyboard opened up. Hah! I asked if I could take a picture, and got a laughingly NO! It had HTC numbers on every single individual part
He called it the GooglePhone and thcoming to T-Mobile. The interface was clear and clean, but that was as far as I could go, as I had more passengers in line. TMob with 3G - I’ll get one.

FOR REAL? I mean I know everyone here is ignoring your post, but seriously did that happen?
Because when I was working at the airport, I had the same fantasy dream (Google exec with HTC Dream in hand)…. never happened.
Anyway, did the device you “supposibly” held, have a screen like the one in the concept on this post? Did it slide sideways and tilt, with a part of the bottom fixed?
