BlackBerry Curve Sunset Pushed Back to Next Monday

In keeping with the theme of delays, it looks like the sunset-colored BlackBerry Curve we told you about earlier this month has been pushed back a week. Why? We have no idea but lately it seems like “delay” and “BlackBerry” are becoming synonymous. Software delays, hardware delays; is the strength of the CAD compared to the USD so shocking that RIM employees are all taking some time off to vacation south of the border? Of course a matter of a week is hardly the end of the world and besides, it’s just a red Curve. While BlackBerry fans anxiously await new devices we just don’t think a sunset Curve is going to be quite enough to tide anyone over. After all, reports are swirling right now with regards the BlackBerry Bold having been delayed yet again to a September release with many carriers. Wait a minute, didn’t we tell you that almost two weeks ago? Oh well, some may have missed the memo. Hey at least the Thunder hasn’t been delayed… Yet.

We also have had this phone in stock for about a week or so now, and i’ve got to try one out and it doesn’t appear to have any software/hardware related issues that would delay a launch. I have noticed price drops on the gold curve thru t-mo, so if anything its a launch pricing issue at most

I just sold my red curve on Ebay for $300. I do think there are a lot of Blackberry fans that find “just a curve” enough for them.

As to delays. I’m still awaiting an official announcement on Bold availability from RIM or a carrier. As far as I know, the only delays are on the incorrect launch dates you provide. I seem to recall an original 2007Q4 prediction for the 9000, from your site. Maybe you should ask whether RIM is delaying launches, or whether your admittedly great source on new products has incorrect info on launch dates? Just a thought…

Just a quick correction. Anyone that buys a Curve on eBay for $300 is not a fan. They’re a sucker. And yes, the crazy people that spend $1000 on an eBay iPhone are suckers also (since i know the BB fans can’t hear anything even remotely insulting without lashing out at the iPhone even if such lashing is not related to the issue at hand, I decided to save them the trouble).

I actually agree with you on this. I was pretty flabbergasted! I expected it to go for $50 – $100!

Why not? There’s nothing new coming to TMO in like FOREVER, so why NOT a new color to stimulate sales? Geez Zach, are you ALWAYS a “glass half empty” type of guy?

I love these ploys to get rid of old inventory by slapping on a new faceplate. Lets pay homage to NES and their gameboy color for this spinoff. Anymore Pearl color changeups in the mix before Pearly 3 comes out too?

    Hey, BG!

Why are you all surprised that a phone is delayed? Motorola, Nokia, RIM, Sony-Ericsson, HTC — their devices are *always* delayed! At this point, it should be a given that a new device will be delayed.

BTW, a buddy of mine said that his device program at Motorola was the only device to have *ever* actually met the initial launch date. Bet you’re wondering which one it was…

    :-)
