BlackBerry Bold browser video walk through

Apparently the BlackBerry Bold browser walk through wasn’t enough to hold you guys over… we’ve been getting a flood of emails from y’all wanting some video hotness, and who are we to disappoint? We have to warn you though, it’s not organized that well, but you should get the jist of it. Something we should point out as well is that when using Internet Explorer or Firefox browser emulation, a lot of sites don’t load and it gives an error, even over 3G or Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi was turned off for the first part of the video, and then later turned on. What do you think of the browser now that you’ve seen it in action?

Just can’t bring myself to press the “Buy it Now” on a $700 iPhone, but I think this clip gave me a nudge. ;)

This is a very sharp phone. Definitely not the same browsing experience as the iPhone but a gross improvement over any other BlackBerry.

By the way, does this phone have brick breaker on it? Is it a new version or same old classic one?

That is Horrible! Thats worse than my curve! Will they be improving on this before it is officially launched? BTW… Some website say Bold release in Canada in about a week. Are they full of S— or is this true? Any news on AT&T Launch?

Well, it’s certainly better than what I’m used to on my 8800… but still… meh. Looks really weird seeing a mouse pointer on a BlackBerry screen?!

I’ve had blackberries for years, my last one was a 8700. I just “upgraded” to an iphone last week. While the iphone browser is great the phone just isn’t good enough at “push” email. Today i’m taking my 16 gig iphone back and returning to my 8700.

I’ll be upgrading to one of these when it comes out (possibly wait for the storm which uses web kit for the browser the same as the iphone)

The browser look okay to me, certainly better than my 8700.

Push the “go to” button, cook an egg, make toast, eat both and then read the just loaded website with coffee.

lol, meh about sums it up. It looked like he was on EDGE for the first part of the video, strange.

Then also, when you turned on wifi it looked like the wifi icon added another row to the menu bar at the top, thereby losing more real estate on the top.. not impressed but browser has always been their weakest app.

It is certainly loading those sites faster than my 8700! I am used to those page load times or longer for text only sites.

It would be nice to see some page load comparisons to the iphone.

Bottom line though, it looks like the mobile web still is not what we want it to be. How much of the solution lies is design, how much in processor speed, and how much in faster 3G, I don’t have a clue.

How do WinMo devices do when browsing on WiFi? As fast? Faster? Slower?

hmmm. Maybe we should stop reviewing this until it’s actually released with a final OS? Every “sneak-peak” we get disappoints me a little more, although I very much appreciate them! Other than page rendering, which is far superior to any Blackberry so far, this video put me to sleep waiting for pages to load (as it did you, since you canceled the loading half the time). Speed didn’t seem any better than my 8700 on EDGE. I see EDGE displayed on it, though. How do we know that it’s actually connected to a 3G network? Hard to make out, but was there a small 3 beside EDGE? Even surfing with wifi didn’t increase the speeds. A little disappointed, I have to admit. Again.

Awful!!! same as my 8310, even when on WIFI. Somebody better make BBM for the iPhone soon or I’m gonna be really confused as to what purchase to make. If I was a developer i’d work on Blackberry pin emulation for iPhone all day!

this is not a browsing device it seems. it looks like you have to chose between a good email device with a keyboard (bold,E71) or a browser device without (iphone).
