Leak: Possible Images of Sony PSP 3000
Hot off the press in China, a few pictures are currently working their way west that supposedly depict what will eventually be a new PlayStation Portable. There hasn’t been a huge amount of information about Sony’s upcoming third generation PSP, but these pics are actually pretty telling. Apart from the fact that the unit pictured is silver and pretty damn sexy, the top picture is of particular interest. To the left of the volume buttons is a restyled home button with the PlayStation logo on it. More interesting however, is what appears to be a built in microphone opening to the right of the volume buttons. Skype calls? Yes please. In-game audio chat? Sounds like a plan. The PSP 3000 case is also reportedly a bit thinner than the current model and includes some more restyled controls beyond the home key. According to the original source of the pics, Sony already has the new PSP in production and is shooting for a holiday release this year. Sony hasn’t commented yet and we’re pretty sure it won’t respond to leak-related inquiries. All the same, if we are looking at a holiday release then an official announcement should be coming up pretty soon.

Sweet, been needing a replacement for my PSP 1000. It’s kinda breaking down on me. I’m gonna feel kinda sad if I am not able to get custom firmware on there.
Hopefully it comes out by Christmas so I can buy one.

psp is a gaming device. skype calls? who needs that? they should get rid of that stupid umd no one uses which will cut the thickness in half. a faster processor and bigger battery are what’s needed not renaming buttons.

The PSP just went through a redesign.
I’m calling fake. Not against BGR, but against a 2008 Holiday release.
The PSP is finally getting some traction. Like Nintendo with the DS, why fix what isn’t broken?

I have been a PSP owner for 2 years now and honestly, the psp does not need to make phone calls lol. That would be very uncomfortable and it would look very weird since the psp is big. I personally will just stick with my psp slim until they come out with a REAL upgrade

cacao, adding a bigger battery, getting rid of the UMD, and placing in a faster processor would be just about introducing a PSP2. This is just another revision, if it’s even true. But what do you mean get rid of the UMD nobody uses? What are you going to play the games on then? And don’t say anything about ISOs and homebrew.

i use mine mostly for watching video podcasts but when i bought it in asia it was already hacked and came with a bunch of games

How many times are they going to revise this thing? How about making the psp up to date with: touch screen, draft-n wireless, two sticks. It does’nt need a solid state drive.
I hate to say it but, Sony has lost their drive, what made them so great before. Now they are just like Microsoft… they just don’t care about the consumer.
