New details emerge for Samsung BlackJack III
We’ve been hearing a lot of rumbling about this one for a while, and finally have something close to official confirmation about some specifics on the BlackJack III. The last child in the BlackJack family should be dropping on AT&T in October running a full version of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with a 3 MP camera, 528 Mhz processor, aGPS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, and more. Sharp readers will note that this is, in effect, a rebadged version of the Samsung i788, which is a bit odd given the BlackJack’s current WM Standard market niche, but we suppose everyone has to grow up sometime, right?

This is what the BJ II should have been. They would have had me then, but too late, I’ve already replace my BJ with a 8525.

Seriously though I mean are that many people hanging on saying “Ohh just a few more months until the Blackjack 3. I cant wait. OMFG!!!”
Its the same crap as every other windows mobile phone…

WM Phones are not crap mister! If if you think so, why post on WM articles.

Well because for the most part, all of the phones do the same EXACT thing. Also, IMHO The BJ 1,2, and 3 for the most part look EXACTLY alike.
Just my 0.02…

I might be getting this one….depends on battery life and how that touch screen is going to work. It’s flush so that’s a very good start….

screw windows mobile professional. blackjacks have, in fact, carved out a good market share of winmo att smartphones because they are good smartphones that make good phones, not pdas with a rudimentary and poorly implemented phone system bolted on. this thing will need the integrated windows mobile 7 to make this frankenstein fly before I even think about chucking my bj II or any other standard winmo device.

It is so 2006; another “me-too” device in the vein of the Treo 800W and Moto 9 series. Incrementalism isn’t going to keep them in the game that is quickly being controlled by the iPhone, RIM Bold/Thunder, and Sony’s new slider.

Thats becuase I didnt know which Korea it was being launched in. But its South Korea

It has been for sale in China and HK for several weeks (maybe months) now. It’s the i780 (not 788) and it does have a 2MP camera here (not autofocus). It’s 900/1800/1900 on GSM and 2100 on 3G. Good keyboard and feels great in the hand.
If the US version is quad-band GSM with an auto-focus camera I might take the plunge and see if I can get used to the non-traditional navigation pad/mouse.

Oh, and it’s WinMo 6.0 in China/HK, not 6.1

I will definitely pick this up if it’s released on AT&T. I’ve been dying for a new qwertybar WM phone, as my Cingular 8125 is close to pushing up daisies. I wish AT&T would already nab the HP 910, but I suppose this will just have to do!
