T-Mobile Sidekick launching July 30th, no, it’s called the Sidekick 2008
We just got a hold of some internal T-Mobile snap shots, and any Sidekick will truly appreciate them. They detail the much-rumored Sidekick Gekko, from here on out known as the… wait for it… almost there… T-Mobile Sidekick 2008! That’s it, guys. Creative name right? In all seriousness, it looks like the word about customizing the shells on the device look to be true. It’s an “entry-level” device, and as such, we reckon it won’t break the bank. Here are the official specs on the T-Mobile Sidekick 2008:
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- 2 megapixel camera
- 2.6″ WQVGA screen
- Video recording
- Stereo A2DP Bluetooth
- Standard Sidekick features

I am absolutely disgusted with T-mobile. What is this company coming to? This so-called “new” sidekick is almost a duplicate of the rest of the chain of kicks. There isn’t a great difference between the several other sidekicks. Honestly, the only thing that makes this sidekick stand out from the rest is the “2008″ which has been added to the end of name. T-mobile needs to wake up and look the hell around and come to the conclusion that many rivals such as Sprint or Verizon for instance is outstaging them and making them look like utter fools. Every other company is getting upgrades. For instance, the LG Dare or the LG Voyager or even the Sprint Instinct (don’t let me point out the iPhone or any other touch screen enabled phone for that matter.)Those are great phones and there is no need to compare because they would most likely win hands down in comparison to sidekicks. Frankly, I am getting bored with sidekicks! Where is the excitement anymore? Where is that rush you get when you discover there is a new sidekick on the market? The rush is gone because the idiots working for T-mobile have lost hope, or maybe just any creative bone they once had in their bodies! The sidekick was the most popular phone for T-mobile.(Their greatest success story) T-mobile will indeed either become bankrupt or go out of business in the near future if they keep attempting to sell us crap like this.
By the way: The LG Dare is sweeeet! Get one! lol

WOw Another SK? Isnt there Better things added or something… Like better Camera, MP3? BAttery that last more than 14 hours?n WIFI? Come on they gotta jump a few steps and upgrade Phones up to date… nd make it special Again
well i got it is pretty kool is smaller n lighter…but w/e lets see what they come uo w/ next.
this sidekick is supose to be the follow-up from the ID. Obviously its not going to be a lot better than the LX. and not to mention its an entry level phone. it sells for 100 bucks less than the LX. i think i’ll buy it since its not too expensive. but only an idiot will buy it to upgrade from the LX. its not an LX upgrade and its for people without 400 bucks to spend on a better SK. its for teens and thats it. probably wont be the last sidekick.

Hey everyone. Love the feedback on the T-mobile Sidekick(2008). I actully work for T-mobile as a customer service rep. Our newest Sidekick is not targeted as an upgrade for the LX or Slide Models. Just our latest installment. I agree we could have came up with a better name, but the 08 edition is what the powers that be decided. Current LX users who have not recieved their updates call our sidekick tech care and we can give you the ota update. I’ve never actually used a sidekick before, but I just orded the 08 model. I currently use the T-mobile Wing, but i’ve played around with the Sidekick and its seems to me to be a really good phone. I still prefer my Wing, but the Sidekick 08 is not without is style. The biggest thing is the customization, everything is is kind of standard.
i have to say i brought the sidekick 2008. to me it’s not that bad seeing i had the same phone for almost two and half years. i didnt get the other sidekicks so i dont know the difference. the phone is a smaller then the previous sidekicks it not bulky lookin, it’s nice with the black on black shell, you definitely have many other choices as far as the shells because u can custome make them. no it doesn’t have a flash but the pictures come out pretty good.
i jus got this phone like 2days ago had the lx b4, n this one is waaaaay better already bought sum new skins n the camera on the new sidekick is way better, its smaller n lighter, i love this phone!
its also cheaper thn the lx cudnt wait 4 n update, n im glad i didnt this phone is so much better!
Personally, i think this phone will be pretty good. It’s only 150 dollars with a 2 year contract. It has a great qwerty keyboard, that other major phones still can’t compete with. The sidekick was meant to be a major messaging phone. So people saying, ‘it needs wifi’ or ‘it’s not touch screen’, the sidekick is a MESSAGING PHONE. It’s purpose is to kick ass, at texting and messaging. And if the sidekick had no qwerty keyboard, then it would not be as successful for being a MESSAGING phone. Well, if you ask me, getting a touch screen phone with out a stylus is just plain stupid. I wouldn’t want icky finger prints on my touch screen phone (if i had an invisible shield, i wouldn’t care so much), and using a stylus is just easier. But most touch screen phones don’t come with a stylus. The sidekick is suppose to be decently affordable, and is suppose to hit pre-teens and teenagers. I’m fifteen, and I’m looking to buy one (using my own money BTW). A GOOD blackberry (the pearl is crappy because it has two letters on each key) is about 200, plus internet and unlimited texting (separate pay per month)! That’s a lot of money per month. The sidekick gives you internet, unlimited texting, and email for only 20 bucks extra a month. Now, i think that’s pretty decent for all that. Maybe if i had 300 bucks laying around my house for an iphone 3g with 16gb (plus money for every month), i would purchase it, but for now, paying 70 dollars a month, for 1000 minutes, unlimited texting, unlimited websurfing, unlimited picture messaging, and unlimited aim, with a sidekick is just perfectly great for me. Plus you can customize the sidekick, which is awesome. :]
Hey I’ve had the sk08 for like a week I upgrade from the sk3 the phone is pretty cool and I got an ota update that didn’t do anything to the phone. It would have been a better phone if it had a flash for the camera, record time was longer and better quality and 3g this phone is the same as the lx just smaller and its not a entry level the sk slide is according to the tmobile rep but over all I like the phone

the new sidekick is 149.99 for a 2 year conrated but if u only whant the phone it wis be almost $300

I have had all the sidekicks and I love this new one 2008. Sidekick ROCKS!! Love the sidekick forever really love all the features. Tried the iphone, verizon voyager and they suck! Rock On Sidekick!
while everyone is comming out with new phones t mobile stays with the basic come on already make a new better phone that blows other phones out the water gosh

its a nice phone but in my opinion it doesn’t make me go “WOW i know what phone I want for christmas!”

I totally agree. the side kick is absolutely a TXTN phone.. every one is entitled to their opinion.. but do we have to be rude about it?. I like it. It smaller and the camera is great and you can customize it. So if you like it; you do. if you dont; then you dont…and.. whose forcing you to buy it…? RIGHT..lol
Any ideas as to when it will be released in the UK??
