T-Mobile Sidekick launching July 30th, no, it’s called the Sidekick 2008

We just got a hold of some internal T-Mobile snap shots, and any Sidekick will truly appreciate them. They detail the much-rumored Sidekick Gekko, from here on out known as the… wait for it… almost there… T-Mobile Sidekick 2008! That’s it, guys. Creative name right? In all seriousness, it looks like the word about customizing the shells on the device look to be true. It’s an “entry-level” device, and as such, we reckon it won’t break the bank. Here are the official specs on the T-Mobile Sidekick 2008:
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- 2 megapixel camera
- 2.6″ WQVGA screen
- Video recording
- Stereo A2DP Bluetooth
- Standard Sidekick features

Well T-Mobile has a few phones set for 3G . . . T819, 3555, 6263, and i think one more. Yes i know lame. But they do have em. Just nothing to write home about. I work for T-mobile and love that BGR told me about the new Sidekick and Curve before T-mobile did =]Sorry to Post jack

I just want to add a note for all who are saying the iphone this and the iphone that and we need 3g and all this. Look up the android project, it is a open project by Google using linux. This is a iphone killer that will be dropping in Nov/Dec 08 on T-mobile. all you guys are dumba$$es obviously this phone isnt that much better then the lx…they dont expect people to “upgrade” from the lx they want people to upgrade from the 3 just like the id if you still had the sk2 and didnt want to spend to upgrade to the 3 you bought the id

U make no sense y would ppl upgrade from a 2 2 a id it has no camera……next the id is just for ppl who r 2 cheap 2 spend money on a good quality phone I have a lx and if I see someone with a id I get on them aka diss kuz that phone is low budget I dnt even call that a sidekick that’s like a at&t ogo that they had out in like 03 and this sidekick 2008 has a better camera but no flash 1 downside and a smaller screen another down side but overall its a nice phone with all the features the lx has plus its customiziable

I don’t think people are understanding the concept here. It’s a cheap version. Danger isn’t trying to throw out competition for the iphone or anything. It’s perfect for people, like my wife, that breaks every phone i get her and who like to have cool phones but aren’t into spending tons of money. At no time did they say hey this is better then the LX. It’s a concept for a market that doesn’t want to spend 5 bills on a new phone figure out you people that are knocking it. Sheesh.

if u go on Tmonews.com, a site all about tmobile and stuff, it says that the price of the gekko a.k.a Tmobile SK, will be affordable. so im guessing the price will b around $100. But im just guessing.

Everyone here is saying this sucks, because it doesn’t have 3G, and isn’t professional. THIS IS MADE FOR TEENAGERS!
They don’t care about the most Hi-Tech specs on the planet, but want a phone that is cool, and lets them stay connected. In my opinion, T-Mo is doing something right here. They may be more on the pricey side, but they are still great phones for the target audience.

T-Mobile needs to stop this crap with these sidekicks before they go out of business? Do some research, go outside and open your eyes. Plenty of people use them, and they are the cheapest option for having a complete data package. If you go to the Bay Area in California, you’ll see a sidekick in the hand of basically every third person you see. Just because you don’t like the sidekick, doesn’t mean millions of others don’t

the sidekick doesnt really need 3g. its pointless for most of t-mobiles phones. the server that most of their internet phones does all the heavy lifting for the sidekick, so its not really necessary.

love it. talk as much sh*t about any SK if you want, but mine has worked better than any other phone i have ever had. explain why anyone would need anything more than this phone has to offer. after having a SK i dont want any other phone, ever! i will be getting this phone..and they are talking like 150 bucks retail? we will see, that will be nice.

hmm.. SERIOUSLY..why doesnt tmobile offer a wider range of features on the sidekicks except just changin up the look a little bit everytime? their just trying to get us all hyped up for the next one so that they can come out with a better one the new few months so you just end up spending more for something not even worth buying AGAIN plus maybe 1 feature…ugh bad for business..

Just got back from the mall looking at the lx and the lady that works there brought out the new sk 2008 and showed it to me saying its gonna come out tomorrow. All I gotta say is that its a sweet looking phone. My opinion, It looks better than the sk LX, much thinner, much more slim.

oh yea. It should be somewhere in the 200 to 300 price range without the new 2 year contract i think.She said she wasnt sure. but she said its not expensive as the other models
