BlackBerry Bold / BlackBerry Thunder release information
First things first… how did you like our BlackBerry Bold review? If that just made you crave the device more, you might not be too pleased with the latest info we got. We’ve been told that the Bold might have been pushed back yet again. What’s the whispered launch month now? September for a lot of carriers. That’s not to say it couldn’t launch sooner on a couple carriers, but that’s what we were told. It looks like there are still some problems with the radio code that have to do with network roaming, searching, etc. The Bold software has not even gone GM3 yet, and with weekly builds still coming out, there’s nothing to be shipped at this point in time. The hardware side is done, but as usual, these units are waiting for the final flash to start FedExing. Now, what about the BlackBerry Thunder? We’ve held on to this information for a bit, but now that we’ve confirmed it with 2 independent sources, we’re ready to run with it. Here are the most confirmed Thunder dates: a huge marketing push in the U.S. starting in September, and device release in mid-October on Verizon. We said November because we were betting on a couple week delay which, knowing RIM, certainly wouldn’t be out of the question. But, we’re told RIM is fully active in doing everything they can to get the Thunder launch-ready, even putting it above the Bold in terms of prioritizing.

Funny how the theory that first does not always win. Let Apple keep pushing the envelope, so BB knows where to go. No need to be out in front and die.

Blackberry is still the top smartphone among US businesses, among the Department of Defense, and among CEO’s. The iPhone is a nice little phone, but it does not have the strength to really compete with Blackberry. You have one hit phone…Blackberry has an arsenal. What?!

Well I for one am anxious to get my hands on the Thunder.
I really don’t care if it is a little late to market, I just want it to be solid and to beat the iPhone for looks, feel and functionality.

ll finally have a phone to act all smug about to all my friends with lesser phones. Now I’ll know what it feels like to be an iphone owner.

The bberry is not a dying breed and this phone will not be competitive price-wise with other touch screens. It will have black berry software which is far Superior to that of the iPhone/Dare/etc… You’ll be able to copy and paste, You’ll get you email instantly the right way where with the dare you have to wait for ever get it. Also you’ll be able to get tons of 3rd part apps, enterprise support, super fast internet. Here in maine the iphone doesn’t get 3g yet it is still advertised that way. I imaging the storm will be between 4-6 hundred retail and they’ll probably offer it for 299 with new activation/contract. I can’t wait to sell my dare to some sucker on ebay along with my 2 month old 8300 curve and my 1 year on moto-q and take the sweet cash and drop it on the storm. I miss my easy outlook collaboration. When I bought the dare the salesmen lied and said that it synced with outlook. which it did after I downloaded Bitpim. Thank you bg I’ve been following all of your updates and info and it gives me something to look forward to when I get to my office and I see the updated RSS feed in my outlook. Keep up the good work!
